An exciting opportunity has arisen at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust to become a Quality Improvement Lead. The team are leading the trust on its Quality Improvement journey. In summary, the Quality Improvement lead will provide leadership to teams across the trust to ensure delivery of a number of complex quality improvement change programs to drive continuous improvements in service delivery, using the GMMH adopted QI methodology. They will be an ambassador for Quality Improvement across the Trust and provide expertise, advice, education and support to ensure that improvements are delivered effectively and for the benefits of patients and staff.

The post holder will be part of the GMMH QI team based in the Nursing & Quality directorate, at Prestwich. They will be required to support staff and service users/carers trust wide.



The post has a key role in supporting the Trust to meet its vision of incorporating Quality Improvement into our culture, our way of working, and supporting organisational change.



The team collaborates with staff, service users/carers across the Trust to facilitate the use of QI methodology for improvement. The team is responsible for developing the Trust QI capability. They will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to deliver and have oversight of multiple projects.



The post holder needs to work autonomously and to support teams with improvement plans and initiatives. The post holder will have a pivotal role in ensuring safety is at the heart of everything we do. They will be expected to seek out good practice related to QI in the NHS and apply this in a consistent way across the Trust.



They will take ownership of data within work-streams ensuring that we measure, monitor and evaluate outputs to ensure that improvements are delivered effectively and for the benefits of service users/carers and staff.



The post holder will have leadership experience demonstrating the ability to line manage, coach and develop colleagues. It is essential that they have excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with staff, service users/carers and external stakeholders.

Essential requirements for the post include: A recognised Quality Improvement qualification. Prior experience of service re-design or quality improvement initiatives. Experience of leading change in complex systems. Knowledge and experience of the principles and application of improvement methodologies such as LEAN, collaborative models, PDSA and process mapping. The ability to analyse performance data, assess projects, identifying areas for collaborative working to improve outcomes. Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint an Associate Director of Clinical Effectiveness & Assurance to provide senior oversight, leadership and guidance across the organisation. The post holder will ensure frameworks, systems processes and assurance are in place for a variety of functions including clinical standards, clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, PALS/Complaints and that they are robust, will withstand regulatory scrutiny, compliance is monitored and reported and effective remedial actions are implemented.


This role will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to establish and develop a high performing clinical effectiveness and assurance function across a multiple site organisation that is part of and supported by a forward looking and ambitious Clinical Governance Directorate

- Ensure that Clinical Governance frameworks and processes are
embedded within Corporate and Care Group structures, to provide
the organisation with assurance that patients receive effective high
quality care. Where issues are identified via assessments,
complaints, audits, external reviews, inspections etc. that remedial
actions are put in place and monitored to reduce the likelihood of
reoccurrence, lessons are learnt and shared.

- Ensure that there is Ward/team to Board assurance, clinical
governance processes and clinical governance frameworks, that
are fit for purpose.

- Direct the management of the Clinical Governance function via
heads of departments and senior managers through to the Care
Groups, quality assuring activity and working with commissioners to
ensure that contractual requirements are met.

- Ensure processes are in place to demonstrate robust compliance
with external standards for clinical governance across the Trust.

They are currently recruiting a Quality Manager to lead a quality assurance team to verify that all materials including finished products are safe and conform to all relevant specifications, legislation and customer requirements.

This is a full-time, permanent role based at the Shadsworth and Blackburn bakeries.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a technically minded individual with experience working within a quality role from a food manufacturing background, ideally bakery.

You’ll have experience in ensuring that all materials including finished products are safe and conform to all relevant specifications, legislation and customer requirements.

It would be highly advantageous if you have a food-related degree as well as experience of retailer & BRC audits.

Previous experience managing people/shift patterns would also be advantageous as you will be responsible for a team of 6 (4x quality auditors, 2x raw materials quality auditors).

The role of Quality Manager
