As the head of clinical assurance and improvement you will be responsible for the clinical oversight and clinical leadership of the Specialist Benefit element of the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) contract and will play a key role in engaging with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on assuring the quality of report outputs. At Cavendish Nuclear we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Quality Control Inspector at our Hinkley Point C site.

This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main MEH, cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework at the power station.

The role

As a Quality Control Inspector, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll ensure static, and rotation mechanical equipment is installed in the correct orientation:

• Perform inspections in accordance with the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan).
• Liaise with client's representative for conducting of day-to-day inspection during the construction activities.
• Ensure installation of equipment is in compliance with ECS Code, drawings, vendor and code requirements with respect to; material, alignment, etc.
• Maintaining LTQR's as required during inspections ensuring all signatures on LTQR and ITP during inspection.

This role is full time, with a four day week every other week, and will be based onsite at HPC in Bridgwater. There is however a secondment allowance and accommodation available for anyone based more than two hours from the site.

Essential experience of the Quality Control Inspector:

• Experience as a mechanical QC inspector
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry (oil & gas, nuclear etc.)
• Experience with rotational equipment

Qualifications for the Quality Control Inspector:

• API1658 desirable
• Degree in engineering or time served apprenticeship in mechanical discipline preferred

The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS security clearance for this role.

Carry out internal QC audits of all areas of the business to ensure compliance is being adhered to and report any findings to the management team. All audits to be record systematically to allow future analysis.
Ensure that all members of the QC team have the relevant training and knowledge to carry out their role.
Be transparent and report all QC issues and concerns to the Workshop Supervisor/Workshop Manager.
Carry out root cause analysis on QC issues found to prevent reoccurrence.
Implement and develop reporting of QC issues using BCA’s IT system and display using Microsoft Office applications.
Minimise cost through efficient working practices.
Implement customer policies & customer requirements within the department.
Promote a Health & Safety culture within the business.
Ensure accurate records are maintained for Training, Sickness, Holidays, Disciplines, Welfare & Attendance.
Take the lead in the development and integration of ISO, particularly ISO 9001.
Stand in for the Workshop Supervisor as and when required.


To be successful, you’ll bring some of the following experience with you:


You should be self-motivated and flexible with the ability to work well on your own or as a team member and to be customer focussed. A good knowledge of BCA’s workshop IT Systems desirable but not essential.
Experience in leading a team.
Have a flexible attitude towards all Depot activities.
Ability to work under pressure at Peak periods to meet vehicle ETA’s etc.
Prioritisation of tasks and collect information effectively.
Good computer skills with a decent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
A good technical background is desired.
