• In this role, you will perform shear and extensional rheological characterization of a large variety of liquid personal care products including lotions, topical oils, and more. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop a first-of-its kind AI-assisted integrated NDT verification system for reusability of structural steel with accuracy of ±10% at confidence level of 95%. The key innovation is to use AI to analyse a bigger data set and build a multi-parameter machine learning (ML) model that integrate the complex mechanical properties obtained from DT and the electric/magnetic permeability data obtained from NDT to predict the critical material characteristics of reusable steels.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to an academic research project where you will be part of the research team to investigate the cognitive mechanisms of learning and memory; as well as to design and implement qualitative studies and experiments related to this.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
• Undertake these responsibilities in the project:

i. Liaise with research participants, members of the research team and other professionals

ii. Assist in the creation and refinement of research materials and methodologies

iii. Assist with data collection in the field, execute and oversight of research experiments, data processing, data entry, and data analysis

iv. Maintain accurate records of data collected, safeguarding the confidentiality of participants, as necessary

v. Manage administrative tasks related to the research projects e.g., apply for ethics approval, coordinating meetings, scheduling research tasks, requesting for information etc

vi. Conduct literature reviews

vii. Assist in preparation of research reports, findings and presentations to stakeholders

viii. Coordinate and attend project meetings, monitor the project budget and work on other projects and initiatives, as required.

ix. Prepare, maintain, and update website materials.

x. Prepare and write manuscripts for publications with the research team

• Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
• Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
• Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of research equipment.

Job Requirements

• Have relevant competence in the areas of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• A good degree with honours in relevant discipline (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, public health, allied health etc).
• Knowledge of research related software such as Endnote, STATA, SPSS will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Generative AI such as copilot/ChatGPT.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop software platforms for supporting multi-user AR/VR applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
• Undertake one of the three responsibilities:

1. Develop an interactive metaverse application for online education, team collaboration, and workplace training with a focus on real-time interactive simulation. (app developer)
2. Design, build, and implement a multiplayer architecture and backend services for a real-time AR/VR multiplayer system. (network engineer)
3. Design, build, and implement the the game engine for both client and server. (game engine software engineer)

• Perform testing
• Perform documentation and optionally publishing paper to international conferences/journals.
• Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
• Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

Job Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science or relevant field
• Experience with software development life cycle
• For app developer role:
  o Strong knowledge in C++ and/or Javascript for 3D/VR applications (e.g., babylon.js, A-Frame, etc.) will be an advantage
  o Experience in developing XR app for teaching & learning/training.
  o Experience developing optimized modules in C#/C++ within Unity and/or Unreal Engine
  o Experience with database management systems
• For network engineer role:
  o Experience in computer networking, multiplayer architecture, and backend services
  o Experience in connecting backend to various internal and external services and microservices.
  o Deep knowledge in computer network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, and other relevant network protocols).
  o Expertise in handling latency, packet loss, and synchronization issues.
  o Expertise in designing a scalable server architecture for handling thousands to millions of concurrent players, Load balancing, auto-scaling, and server instance management.
  o Expertise in securing a multiplayer game network system.
  - Knowledge of encryption techniques to ensure data in transit remains confidential.
  - Prevention measures against common threats like DDoS attacks, SQL injection, and cheating.
  o Experience in multiplayer game services such as Azure PlayFab, AWS GameLift, Google Cloud Servers, and other similar services.
  o Strong knowledge in C++ will be an advantage.
  o Experience with database management systems
  o Familiarity with core engine technologies such as engine architecture and streaming.
  o Familiarity in developing optimized modules in C#/C++ within Unity and/or Unreal Engine.
• For game engine software engineer:

The project is an oral language proficiency evaluation on primary students. Specifically, the project is to provide an automatic interface to help primary students practice and improve in their mother tongue learning.

The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to the delivery of an interactive multilingual language learning system. The role will be part of the research and development team to implement an automatic speech evaluation application that promotes mother tongue learning for students.

Candidates should have work experience in speech recognition and language learning, and a good knowledge of general machine learning, especially neural networks. Candidates with work experience in speech recognition and language learning will be advantageous, however training will be provided.

Job Requirements

• Good command of programming in any programming languages.
• Degree in EE, CS or related areas, preferably with good knowledge in speech recognition, natural language processing
• Good understanding and application experience of machine learning algorithms
• Familiar with speech decoding algorithms under the end-to-end framework will be advantageous.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Research Assistant who will be part of a multidisciplinary research team to investigate digital wellness, particularly video gaming overuse among Singaporeans. We seek a highly organized individual with good attention to detail and a strong interest in video gaming research.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Management:

1. Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PIs and students to ensure all project deliverables are met.
2. Assist in coordinating and managing day-to-day research activities including scheduling, participant recruitment, data collection, and maintaining project timelines.
3. Ensure that research activities comply with the ethical guidelines and Institutional Review Board requirements.
4. Collaborate with undergraduate students who are working on their honours thesis as part of this project.

• Data Management and Analysis:

1. Ensure accuracy and efficient data entry, coding, and organization of databases.
2. Quantitative statistical data analysis using STATA, Python or R with survey and clinical data (including descriptive statistics, inferential statistics and regression models).
3. Comply with IRB and ethical guidelines in data management.

Job Requirements

• Have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, statistics/mathematics, public health, health/medical sciences-related degree, or social science-related degree. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous.
• Have relevant competence or previous experience in research, writing research papers and quantitative data analysis.
• Proficiency in R, STATA, Python or another statistical analysis software.
• Knowledge of video gaming addictions, behavioural addictions, or digital health will be advantageous.
