What the role involves

• As senior director of maths you will play a crucial role in securing outstanding outcomes for children at the end of Key Stage 4 and 5. You will remain a practitioner and teach y11 key students in at least one trust secondary close to your base
• You will provide strategic and operational oversight of the delivery of maths across the trust, including adapting, amending or refining the maths curriculum from Key Stage 3 to 5.
• You will work systematically to implement NET’s tried and tested NORTHERN model of school improvement across all trust secondary academies
• You will line manage a team of 8 supernumerary maths directors, coordinating their deployment to ensure the best possible outcomes for students and rapidly improving provision at all stages
• You will coordinate the trust maths CPD offer for staff through the NET Staff College
• You will represent the trust in national and regional sector events to contribute to the wider development of maths beyond the trust
• You will deliver trust programmes of support for schools we are asked to work with as an external provider to fulfil the wider school improvement offer for our neighbourings

About the role
Nottingham City Council has an ambition to become an effective research partner and research active organisation, embedding evidence in all decision making. In order to achieve this, we will need to develop a systematic approach for guiding colleagues, provide training and support on finding and applying evidence to inform decisions and processes, and develop research infrastructure including governance, to support research proposals and their delivery. A new role of research ophthalmic science practitioner has been created within ophthalmology to coordinate and support the research trials requiring input from our services. This is a really exciting opportunity to work between ophthalmology and research and innovation teams, to facilitate the set-up of research studies in a timely fashion, ensure patients enrolled in trials have visits in line with the study protocol and work collaboratively across the teams.

Research & Innovation (R&I) receives and generates funding from various routes, in order to support and foster clinical research in Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and in partnership with regional stakeholders. As part of the research support infrastructure, the Ophthalmology department plays an integral role in facilitating R&I to carry out this function. Consequently, NUH R&I is enabling the development of this role. The post holder will be based in ophthalmology and must be flexible to meet the needs of the service. Excellent communication, organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently to prescribed timelines are essential skills required for the role.
