We are looking for a motivated scientist to join the protein research group at Cardiff.

Interested applicants should have a first degree in chemistry and a preferably a PhD in protein chemistry, enzymology/biocatalysis, or a closely related area, and experience of molecular cloning, protein cyclisation, bioanalytical characterization, enzyme handling and enzyme kinetics.

Salary: £32,332 - £34,980 per annum (Grade 5). We do not anticipate that an appointment be made above £32,982 (Grade 5.26)

We are seeking to appoint a Grade 6 Research Assistant for an externally-funded project examining the use of baby carriers and slings in the UK. The role will involve designing and conducting a systematic review of research evidence, designing and conducting online surveys with families and practitioners, critically evaluating existing guidance and making recommendations. The post in time-limited due to external funding and may be conducted full-time (35 hours per week) over 6 months or part-time (minimum 17.5 hours per week) for up to 12 months.

The successful candidate will be based in the Durham Infancy & Sleep Centre located in Hilton Cottage, Old Elvet, working as part of an award-winning research team undertaking high impact work on a variety of projects relating to infant sleep and the prevention of unexpected infant deaths. The Durham Infancy & Sleep Centre (DISC) is a research centre of the Department of Anthropology & Faculty of Social Sciences. It is the home for a group of researchers examining various aspects of infant and child sleep and parenting behaviour. Our work over the last 30 years has substantially increased parents' understanding of babies' sleep, how best to care for babies during the night, and how best to keep them safe when asleep. DISC houses the Baby Sleep Information Source (Basis) which provides research-based information for parents and practitioners.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant (RA) on a full-time basis to support a new project on prehabilitation for cancer populations in collaboration with the Cancer Treatment Outcome Programme at the Country Durham and Darlington NHS Trust and the Gateshead Health NHS Trust. Prehabilitation means getting someone ready before their cancer treatment. This may include physical activity and exercise, nutrition, mental health, and other supportive services. The aim of this project is to understand people's perceptions and experiences with prehabilitation as well as how and why people engage with prehabilitation. We also want to identify the barriers and facilitators that may influence this.
