You will be a member of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Plant Success in Nature and Agriculture and the position will work within the UQ Plant Success Laboratory with Professors Christine Beveridge, Mark Cooper, and Daniel Ortiz-Barrientos and their research groups, though reporting to Beveridge. 
The Research Assistant provides technical research support and subject matter expertise in support of DNA/RNA/metabolite/hormone work for the Arabidopsis select-sequence mapping experiments and sorghum physiology or genetic work.

About Your Lab: The laboratory of Cancer Metabolism aims to understand how cells adapt to divergent metabolic stressors and how this is related to carcinogenesis (for more info: https://www.halberglab.com/)

Role Purpose / Responsibilities:

The following duties will apply but not limited too:

* You will develop new mouse models of breast cancer through intraductal injection of lentivirus
* You will perform in vivo studies of cancer development in mice challenged with different diets
* You will perform in vitro cancer studies

About you:

* You are required to have obtained an Honours or Master’s degree in a relevant field
* You are required to have practical experience producing and working with lentivirus
* You are required to have practical experience with intra-ductal mammary injections in mice
* You have experience working laboratory animals
* You have experience working with cancerous and non-cancerous cell lines

Remuneration: Salary range is $80,468 to $89,090 plus super and generous salary packaging. This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years.

Using genome wide association studies (GWAS) we have identified over 250 breast cancer risk loci. We are currently performing large-scale pooled CRISPR screens and using assays in these screens to identify genes that impact on proliferation, anchorage independence, and tumourigenicity. We are also examining the pre-malignant peripheral immune profile of breast cancer cases and exploring opportunities for drug repositioning from knowledge of the GWAS target genes for prevention and treatment of breast cancer.Role Purpose / Responsibilities:  Applications are invited for an experienced biomedical research assistant to join an established team to assist in evaluating a novel drug for the treatment of triple negative breast cancer and exploring the functional mechanisms behind GWAS targets associated with breast cancer risk.The following duties will apply: Animal handling in primary and metastatic cancer models.
