ASPIRE, GROW, SUCCEED We are seeking a Science Technician to provide vital support for the provision of practical elements of learning from Key Stage 3, in all 3 Science subjects, through to ‘A’ Level. The duties will include preparation of materials, equipment and chemicals for lessons, mounting and displaying work, maintenance of relevant machinery and equipment, constructing science apparatus and stock control. This is a varied role and would suit someone with laboratory experience and who is looking to develop their career as a technician. Training will be provided for the right candidate. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Science Department as a Science Technician. Each day you will provide administrative and technical support to the Science Department to ensure that all apparatus and equipment is available and set up to meet the daily timetable requirements covering KS3 to KS4.

The working hours are from 8.00am to 4.00pm, with a 3.30pm finish on Fridays, during the school term. You will also be paid for an additional 5 days per year, which enables you to attend team meetings, training and development that sits outside your normal working hours. Your actual salary is £19850 per annum dependant on our start date, based on working 37 hours per week, and this is paid in 12 equal instalments over the year so even when it is the summer holidays, you continue to receive the same payment that month.

We are looking for an experienced science technician who is very organised, is confident with cleaning and maintaining equipment and stock levels, and is an effective team worker with a helpful and positive attitude in a busy environment.

The purpose of your role will be:

• To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
• To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor
• To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
• To contribute to raising standards of student attainment
• To share and support the academy's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth

Your main areas of responsibility will fall under the areas of:

• Operational and strategic planning (including lesson planning, developing resources and syllabuses, and contributing to the departmental plan)
• Curriculum planning
• Staff development (including continuing professional development and engaging fully in the Performance Management Review process)
• Quality assurance (including contributing to the process of monitoring and evaluating the subject area)
• Management of information (including maintaining appropriate records and tracking student progress)

We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Chemical, Materials and Biological Engineering, University of Sheffield for a highly motivated Research Technician, with experience in (bio)process development and/or biomanufacturing and laboratory management. On a project funded by CEPI, you will work as an integral member of the team building on our prior work and developing an end-to-end automated, continuous, compact, multi-product mRNA process-in-a-box: the RNAboxTM.

You will use your organisational, laboratory management, communication and technical skills to provide essential support to our team, led by Dr Zoltan Kis and Professor Mark Dickman, research activities and play a key role ensuring research projects are delivered to defined milestones.
You will preferably possess a good honours level degree or Higher National Diploma in a relevant scientific field, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with key awareness in the functioning of the research laboratory environment. Experimental wet-lab skills, organisational skills, thorough documentation and teamwork skills are essential.
