• Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
• Provides support for planning, developing, coordinating, and executing functions of the Protocol office at the NASA Ames Research Center.
• Provides communication and scheduling support and coordination for the Center Directors and members of the Director’s staff.
• Conducts orientation for the visitors in a schedule designed to fit the needs of the visitor and the command.
• Coordinates a variety of special events to include ceremonies, receptions, luncheons, dinners, etc.
• Plans and directs the conduct of visits to Ames Research Center by distinguished visitors including NASA Headquarters, Governmental Officials, VIP foreign national visitors and other notable guests.
• Integrates the efforts of staff offices to perform an orientation for the visitors in a schedule designed to fit the needs of the visitors and Ames Research Center.
• Ensures all support personnel (i.e., drivers, escorts, photographers, details, etc.) are thoroughly briefed and oriented on their respective responsibilities for the visit.
• Creates detailed itineraries for distinguished visitors based upon time and place of arrival, size and significance of the group, background and interests, and length of stay.

• Conduct research on the variability and processes which affect the chemical, dynamic, and radiative properties that regulate the spatial and temporal distribution and abundance of active tropospheric and stratospheric gases, aerosols, and clouds.
• Analyze data from airborne, ground, balloon, and satellite platforms and investigate the interaction occurring between radiation, photochemistry, and dynamics.
• Serve as the Ames Earth science division’s research and modeling lead for stratospheric dynamics and transport, and lead the Flight Planning and Forecasting (FPF) team for suborbital field campaigns.
• Conceive and advocate for field campaigns, and develop proposals that address science-driven hypotheses relevant to NASA focus areas as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator.
• Lead teams in integrating instruments, models, and other science capabilities to define science questions and traceability from science through observations to data products, toward proposals that address atmospheric science priorities.
• Study and develop new innovative techniques, including the use of machine learning tools for modeling atmospheric phenomena from the local to the global scale.

• Serves as an expert and technical authority to agency management and the aerospace industry in the areas of conceptual vehicle design analysis, aerodynamic database development, applied computational fluid dynamics, and development of analysis tools.

• Serve as manager of the Open Campus Project for Ames Research Center. Identify requirements for changing physical security elements and operations on portions of Moffett Field. Develop actions and sub-projects to accommodate the changes required.
• Collaborate with multiple organizations across the Center including Center leadership, Center Operations Directorate, Environmental Management Division, Legal, Protective Services, Facility Engineering Division, and NASA Research Park Office.
• Provide strategic coordination and negotiate for required resources to support new and existing leases between NASA Research Park and Center Operations divisions.
• Present project status and decision packages to Facility Utilization Review Board, Center leadership, Center Operations Directorate, Facilities Executive Council, HQ OSI, and other stakeholders as required.
