We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative teacher of Science. Ideally candidates will be able to offer experience of teaching Science across key stages 3-5 and will have the ability to deliver high quality teaching that drives achievement and inspires a love of learning. • This is a varied and engaging role in which you’ll be responsible for supporting your function and wider business with policy development, political horizon scanning, political engagement and the identification of political risk

What you'll do

As our Head of Group Public Policy Research & Political Risk, you’ll be responsible for driving the development of policy interventions. In doing so, you’ll develop our strategic approach for the use of lobbying governments and politicians across the UK. You’ll be expected to stay abreast of the key political policy areas of the day in order to develop our policy positions across a number of areas.

In addition to this, you’ll be responsible for:

• The horizon scanning of key issues covering policy and political risk
• Identifying any political risks we might face before developing mitigating actions
• Developing research materials to support regional board communications, influencer engagement and the Levelling Up agenda
• Developing simple, accessible materials on our strategy and purpose for external use

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with the ability to deliver clear, well researched materials for external parties covering our strategy. As such, you’ll be able to deal with highly sensitive and confidential materials.

Along with an understanding of our wider strategy, you’ll have the ability to research complex political policies and how they affect us and our customers.

You will also need a contacts book, the desire to build that contacts book and the willingness to engage with politicians and officials on an ongoing and out of hours basis.

• The ability to build strong and widespread relationships across the bank
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate innovative solutions to potential risks

The post holder will: * Develop a sustainable research programme through engagement with national studies, working collaboratively with established PIs within the Trust and Birmingham University * Act as Principal Investigator or co-investigator for research studies * Support colleagues in grant applications, and in developing research capacity within the department. * Work with the paediatric R&D team to support current research activity in the department, and to develop research capacity. * Undertake and maintain appropriate life support training and, in partnership with R&D and CRF senior management and staff, initiate definitive strategies to anticipate and expertly manage medical safety issues, including emergencies; * Undertake and maintain GCP training and attend other appropriate training; * Participate in the writing, and review, of appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in association with R&D governance; * Contribute to the risk assessment and planning of risk mitigation strategies for early phase trials; As a representative of paediatric R&D , develop positive relationships with Sponsors and regional and national research networks; * Any other duties as may be deemed reasonable in collaboration with the paediatric team
