A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week. The job plan will be reviewed annually and is a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of a consultants professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external and will include personal objectives, detailing links to wider service improvements and trust strategic priorities. For a full-time contract, the job plan will be divided on average per week (pro-rata for a part time post) as: 5.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care - includes clinical activity, clinically related activity and predictable and unpredictable emergency work. Clinic templates are for 3.5 hours to allow 0.5 hours for additional clinic related admin (phone calls, time to admit from clinic) within the 1 PA allocated. 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) - includes CPD, audit, teaching and research. 1.5 of these will be to support revalidation. We are looking for highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individuals to join our Cellular Pathology team to work within Pathology.

The department is introducing Digital Pathology, and we are looking for a person to lead the scanning of slides. You will be responsible for ensuring the slides are scanned in a timely manner and are of appropriate quality. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the scanners are operating efficiently and effectively Assist senior BMS staff with the supervision and training of Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA).

The successful applicant must possess a relevant qualification along with previous clinical laboratory experience. Candidates should hold either the NVQ Level 3 in Clinical Laboratory Support, or IBMS certificate of achievement Part II, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant science based subject.

Participation in the rota is compulsory, including weekend, bank holiday early and late shifts.

The post is based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital although candidates may be required to cover absences across sitesincluding RJAH.

As an Associate Practitioner you will work in collaboration with Biomedical Scientists and other colleagues assisting in the provision of a diagnostic service.
• You will mainly be involved in the day to day running of the slide scanners and ensuring the quality and efficiency of the scanning is maintained.
• You will be responsible for the daily maintenance of the scanners and ensuring that the outputs are of high quality
• You will also work in all areas of the Histology Laboratory and be involved in provision of the technical service.
• You will be checking that the correct sample type has been received, correct sample labelling and suitability for diagnostic investigations, in accordance with Pathology laboratory policies and standard operating procedures.
• You will be inputting data on the laboratory computer system and trouble shooting issues that may arise. Perform an increasing range of laboratory tests, many of which are of a non-routine nature, requiring experience, theoretical and technical knowledge.
• You will also be expected to participate in the provision of a 6/7 day working service as part of an average 37.5 hour working week - including weekends and Bank/Public holidays.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our existing team. The Department of Gastroenterology provides a service to the county of Shropshire and Mid Wales and currently consists of 9 Consultant Gastroenterologists and 1 Consultant Hepatologists working across both hospital sites.
Contribution to an out of hours on call rota is core to this role.

Clinical
• To be responsible and work independently for the continuing care of patients alongside consultant staff.
