About the Role

As a Driver, you'll be responsible for:

- Collecting and delivering chapter 8 (rigid plastic barriers and road signs) from highway and private sites.

- Ensuring depots are replenished with chapter 8 to enable teams to undertake excavation works whilst liaising with colleagues to ensure North & South depots have sufficient chapter 8.

- Undertaking driving duties and working under street works conditions, assisting line teams using 4X4's, vans, lorries / HIAB cranes to install various plant and apparatus on our network.

- Delivering materials to sites, ad hoc and undertaking any other related ad hoc tasks as required.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A full driving licence, HGV may be an advantage but not a requirement, previous experience in the utilities sector and NRSWA certificate would be an advantage.

- Forklift certificate would be preferred but again training can be provided.

- Ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team, reporting and raising risks or challenges to managers where necessary.

- Excellent communication skills and an ability to build effective working relationships will be paramount.

- Ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

What’s involved in this job?

• The people in your care and custody will have a variety of different needs and it will be your role to ensure they are met, and those individuals are treated with dignity and respect whilst maintaining a safe, secure, and structured environment
• You have full responsibility for every aspect of the physical and mental well-being of adults in your care, ensuring their health, safety and well-being is a priority
• You will liaise with Prison and Police authorities, ensuring all documentation is completed and correct, carrying out risk assessments on vulnerable or at-risk prisoners

Vehicle-based role

• You will escort, supervise, and transport prisoners from courts, police stations, or prisons
• You will escort, supervise, and transport prisoners to and from hospitals or other outside visits such as to family funerals
• You’ll be responsible for your vehicle each day, carrying out external and internal checks and ensuring it has the right equipment and consumables for the day, like food and water.

Court based role

• You’ll work as part of a team to make sure all those in custody are safe, looked after, and arrive in the court dock on time
• Carry out custodial duties within a court location
• Maintain security and order in the courtroom and custody suite
• Maintain accurate records and complete relevant documentation related to prisoner movements within the court. These records will be updated on a handheld electronic device

You will be provided with a 5.5-week comprehensive full-time training programme followed by a full week of job shadowing, which will ensure you are fully prepared to take on the role and responsibilities of a front-line Prisoner Custody Officer. Offshore Helicopter Services UK Ltd (OHS) supports the North Sea Oil & Gas sector with flight transfers and an Offshore Search & Rescue cover. Pay rates: £13 per hour (plus holiday accrual)

Schedule: Tuesday to Friday, 7am starts. Shifts lasting 8 to 10 hours (overtime also available)

As a Class 2 Driver, your responsibilities will include:

• Performing multi-drop work
• Handballing
• Working alongside a Driver's Mate

The successful Class 2 Driver will have:

• A valid Class 2 licence
• At least 6 months of experience
• A maximum of 6 points on your licence with no DR, DD, CD, IN, or TT codes accepted
• A valid CPC and tacho card

• Assistant Transportation Manager

  Location: Aberdeen, Maryland

  Gordon Food Service delivers daily to restaurants, healthcare operations, and schools so our customers depend on us- and we depend on our transportation team for excellence! Join our team as an Assistant Transportation Manager and help ensure the efficient and economical delivery of Gordon Food Service products

   

  As an Assistant Transportation Manager, no two days are the same, but typically you'll be involved in the following: 

  • Leadership - driver meetings, mentoring, motivating, ride-along/coaching trips, and training

  • Team Management -  participation in interviewing, hiring, training, performance assessments, and recognition

  • Operational Management - route balancing, dispatch, equipment assignments, backhaul scheduling

  • Regulatory Oversight - DOT, Federal, State, and Local regulations

  • Route Coverage - during vacations and absences 

  Schedule:

  Thursday through Sunday, start at 6 am Thurs and Fri

  Sat and Sun start time dependent on business needs

  OR Monday to Friday 10 am start

  Does this look like you?

  • At least 21 years of age 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent 

  • Class A Commercial Drivers License

  • CDL-T certification preferred

  • Two to three years of previous transportation experience and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Clean driving record; as required by DOT and Gordon Food Service standards 

  • Successfully passing a drug test that will assess drug usage and a background check

  • Must have knowledge of DOT, OSHA, Smith System (Keys to Safe Driving), and dispatch procedures

You’re home daily - here’s what you’d be doing each day:
- Keep our customer happy with accurate, timely, deliveries of GFS products
- Build and maintain good customer relationships
 
We'll teach you a lot, but we do have a few minimum requirements:
- At least 21 years of age
- One year previous driving experience AND one year experience in customer service or related field
- Ability to operate a two-wheel cart with loads of up to 350 pounds
- Successfully passing a drug test that will assess drug usage (including marijuana) and a background check
- Ready for technology - handheld scanners, basic computer operations
- Clean driving record; as required by DOT and Gordon Food Service standards 
- You must be able to pass a DOT physical
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
