The role
As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll play a crucial role in our Defueling Spares portfolio, supporting Project Managers and managing projects under supervision. You'll handle various project tasks throughout different phases, from concept to dispatch. Your responsibilities will cover the entire project lifecycle, from receiving customer inquiries to delivering complex assemblies.
Day-to-day, you'll manage customer inquiries, order management, and delivery of both small work packages and complex assemblies. Key responsibilities include scheduling, financial management, and risk assessment. You'll also handle stakeholder management and communications, including site visits and developing management plans.
- Manage and deliver ongoing inquiries and orders for defueling projects.
- Support key project management functions including scheduling, financials, and risk management.
- Develop accurate financial reports for senior management.
- Plan, monitor, and control work packages from internal and external resources.
- Apply the Business Management System (BMS) appropriately and produce project reports.
- Engage in stakeholder management and communications, including site visits and developing stakeholder plans.
This role is full time 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 or 3 days in the office and 2 or 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Assistant Project Manager
- Familiarity with project lifecycles and core project management techniques.
- Recent and relevant experience in a similar environment or business sector is preferred, but not essential.
- Awareness of engineering principles and common project challenges is preferred, but not essential.
Qualifications for Assistant Project Manager
APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) (previously APMP) preferred, with willingness to work towards Chartered Project Professional (ChPP). Willingness to obtain these qualifications if not already held is acceptable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
