Opportunity…We’re looking for you to join us as our next NI Engineering Lead, where you'll lead major technical initiatives within the ‘N3’ Area of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the emergency diesel generators, waste and effluent treatment systems. Your role will encompass a diverse range of complex technical challenges, with a special emphasis on providing strategic and delivery leadership in multi-disciplinary issues for HPC. You’ll also be working closely with the Commissioning and Pre-operations teams to prepare for future phases of the project, driving success and innovation. As our NI Engineering lead, you’ll be overseeing critical structures, systems and components such as our emergency power suppliers and complex waste and effluent treatment and storage systems, spanning all disciplines such as civil, mechanical, I&C, electrical and HVAC. You’ll be involved in delivering the essential Reporting to the N3 Area Engineering Manager, you'll take on a leadership role, spearheading the delivery of our most intricate and influential technical initiatives.

What you’ll be doing…
As the NI Engineering Lead, you'll dive into diverse areas, connecting with stakeholders and attending meetings to ensure project-wide awareness. You'll tackle emerging risks head-on, crafting pragmatic solutions and simplifying complexities to drive optimal decisions. Collaborating with various teams, you'll shape the project's risk landscape, balancing priorities to enhance decision-making and visibility. As a key part of the HPC focal point of HPCs engineering efforts, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving project success.Other roles and responsibilities of this role will also include:
- Solve cross-functional technical issues which would not be resolved, achieving a best-for-project solution with a schedule-conscious approach.
- Provide a decisive escalation route for issues which are deadlocked and act as a catalyst for innovative optioneering.
- Advocate for pragmatic decision-making aligned with project goals, focusing on technical integrity and risk mitigation.
- Lead the delivery of diverse technical topics, ensuring alignment with project expectations and schedules.
- Produce high-quality reporting for weekly escalations and monthly boards.
- Foster strong relationships with the CommOps (Commissioning and Pre-Operations) and N3 teams, construction teams, and engineering organisations across France and the UK.
- Drive delivery of engineering sequences for commissioning and pre-operational documents, managing project budgets while exercising strategic and commercial management.
- Proactively manage risks for the N3 area and Commissioning and Pre-Operations engineering disciplines, implementing mitigation plans as needed.
- Collaborate with programmes and technical teams to prioritise tasks and maximise efficiency. Who you are…
- Degree in Engineering, Science or Equivalent, with the strive for chartership within your discipline.
- Bring experience in the nuclear industry, demonstrating familiarity with safety cases and regulatory frameworks.
- Showcase your proficiency in various engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, layout and safety case, emphasising your ability to collaborate with experts.
- Demonstrate your capacity to lead technical and commercial discussions, managing substantial budgets while maintaining a strong technical perspective.
- Highlight your involvement across the entire project lifecycle for complex EPC projects, including design, construction, commissioning, and ideally operations.
- Prioritise delivery excellence in your approach to projects, underscoring your commitment to achieving results.
- Illustrate your adeptness in communicating at multiple levels of an organisation and navigating multi-cultural environments within major projects and organisations.
- Proficiency in French can be advantageous. Closing Date: 29th May 2024
