The Development and Outreach Department is led by the Chief Development Officer and handles the organization’s fundraising and outreach activities. The Department consists of units dedicated to the council/board, foundations, operations, data management, leadership gifts, marketing, and special events.
The Leadership Offers and Experiences team supports the advancement of leadership revenue through central coordination of special initiatives, donor recognition, executive engagement, and conceptualizing and implementing inspiring experiences.
We are seeking candidates for the position of Coordinator within the Leadership Gift Offers and Experience team to provide communications, logistic and administrative assistance. This is a full-time position that will report to the Associate Director of Leadership Offers and Experiences, based in Berlin. The successful candidate will preferably be based in one of the following HRW offices: New York, Washington DC, Toronto, São Paulo, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Beirut, Johannesburg or Nairobi.
The successful candidate may have the option to work remotely but will be expected to work from the office 2-3 times a week. We aim to be as flexible and supportive as possible in both the recruitment for and onboarding of this position.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with frontline fundraisers to draft thank you notes, acknowledgement letters, meeting requests and other donor communication for the executive team, including the Executive Director and Chief Development Officer. Work directly with the executive offices on ensuring all writing materials are sent, saved and followed up upon;
2. Coordinate directly with executive offices, fundraising Managing Directors and city teams on travel requests for fundraising/stewardship purposes for a range of executives. This includes the timely collation of briefing materials and setting up briefing meetings with the executive offices as needed;
3. Lead the year-end writing process for executive offices, including drafting template notes for each executive, personalizing emails, liaising with executives on their feedback, and ensuring all notes are sent out in a timely manner;
4. Organise and provide support on relevant cross departmental meetings including agenda creation, collect and compile up-to-date information and minute taking.
5. Support the Leadership Offers and Experiences team with setting up donor experiences (physical and virtual events), including tailored communications, invitations and other materials;
6. Provide assistance for the successful execution of donor trips and other donor recognition or stewardship initiatives;
7. Provide administrative support to the Leadership Offers and Experience team on future fundraising campaigns.
8. Provide administrative support to the Donor Experience and Offers (DEO) Managing Director, such as setting up co-creation and consultation forums and identifying and establishing processes and systems to keep track of tools and experiences across the department;
9. Schedule and provide administrative support for weekly team meetings;
10. Assist with the recruitment, coordination, and mentoring of interns;
11. Perform other responsibilities as may be required.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience, in human rights, international relations, social science, or a related field is required.
Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required.
Related Skills and Knowledge:
1. Prior office/administration experience and strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail is required.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
3. Self-motivation and the ability to take initiative, prioritize with minimal supervision, and work independently as well as function as a member of a team are required.
4. Proficiency in computer programs including MS Office applications is required.
5. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work well under pressure while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously are necessary.
6. Database experience (such as salesforce) is strongly preferred.
7. Strong interest in human rights is desirable.
Other: Candidates must possess valid work authorization for the country in which they will be based; HRW is unable to sponsor work visas for this role.
Salary and Benefits: If based in the United States, the salary range for this position is USD 62,060- 66,387. Salary ranges outside of the United States vary based on location. Human Rights Watch offers competitive salary and comprehensive employer-paid benefits.
