The post is primarily to provide assessment, psychological therapy and consultation for the care of service users within the Blackburn with Darwen areas.

The teams provide services to people with complex mental health needs. Pennine Home Treatment Teams are split into 2 locality bases covering the Pennine Area. We are seeking to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist to work as part of the Pennine Initial Response Service (IRS), based at Daisyfield Mill, Blackburn. The post is full time (10PA).

The postholder will also be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration is payable.

The overall aim of the IRS Team is to be the point of initial referral and assessment in Pennine Lancashire for people aged 16 years and over presenting with mental health needs. This team will be the first point of contact for GPs for both crisis and non-emergency mental health referrals and will act as the gateway service to those who may require access to specialist mental health services.

The Consultant will provide Medical Leadership within the IRS Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and will work with medical and non-medical colleagues as part of MDT working.

There is no responsibility for inpatients as part of this role.

Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) is a term used to describe service users who may have difficulties associated with a personality disorder.

As part of the NHS Long Term Plan Community Transformation a new Complex Emotional Needs pathway has recently been developed which is non-diagnostic focused and instead focused upon service user complexity and need.

Within the pathway there are specialist interventions provided and developed that are run trustwide including Structured Clinical Management, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Mentalisation Based Therapy. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic person with a passion to work with clients who present with complexity, a history of trauma, risk and difficulties managing their emotions or relationships and impulsivity.

This Liaison & Diversion Practitioner role will identify and respond to requests to screen and assess people with vulnerabilities in contact with the justice system and could be based in the community, police custody or courts.

Referrals will be identified and received where there have been concerns that an individual has mental health issues, a learning disability, substance misuse, social care, safeguarding or other vulnerabilities, that will trigger a referral to the Liaison & Diversion service.

The role will assess for a number of vulnerabilities, using validated tools, ensuring risk is assessed and relevant information shared to ensure appropriate services are accessed and manage the safety of clients and others.

Assessment will include an opinion on the service user’s capacity for effective participation in criminal justice procedures, cultural and gender needs, age and development related needs, including transition to adulthood and older person needs, social circumstances (including, relationships, leisure requirements, daily living, educational and occupational needs, employment/vocational needs, housing, finance).

Information will be shared appropriately verbally and in a written report within Criminal Justice settings to inform decision-making and facilitate diversion within and out of the criminal justice pathway.

The Liaison & Diversion service are part of the National Service provider model working in every Police Custody Suite ands Court in England. Please note: Work is ongoing to transform adult physical health services across the Pennine Lancashire Footprint supported by commissioners within the Lancashire and South Cumbria system. This transformation aims to ensure service users in Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire receive equitable service provision from one service provider. From around 1stApril 2024, the service provider will be East Lancashire Hospitals Trust. Staff employed by LSCFT will therefore transfer from LSCFT to East Lancashire Hospitals Trust around 1stApril 2024 as part of this wider transformation plan.

The team includes Occupational Therapists, Falls Specialist OT, assistant practitioners, technical Instructor’s and community rehabilitation assistants. We work with the wider multidisciplinary team to support long term rehabilitation with patients in their own home’s to support increase or maintain their independence. We attend weekly Integrated Neighbourhood Team meetings to support navigate referrals to the correct services with health, social care and voluntary sector partners.

Your role will involve assessing patients, planning treatment and coordinating support and equipment to meet the patient’s needs. Using your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will develop excellent working relationships with a range of health, care and community partners and expertly attend multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure patients achieve positive outcomes.

We continue to expand our psychological workforce to offer greater access to parent-infant therapies, and have a really exciting opportunity for a Trainee Parent Infant Relationship Therapist to join us.

You will undertake training in Mentalisation Based Therapy and an Infant Observation, and this will
be fully funded and supervised. Whilst training, you will hold a caseload, offering parent-infant therapeutic interventions, supported by our Lead Parent Infant Psychotherapist, our Consultant Clinical Psychologist, therapy colleagues and the wider MDT.

Upon completion of training and evidence of competencies, you will take up a Band 7 post within the team.



This is an exciting opportunity for a experienced clinician who wishes to specialise in parent-infant therapeutic work in a perinatal setting. This is a development post, where you will undertake relevant additional training and work towards competencies required to practice as a Band 7 PI Relationship Therapist.

Upon successful completion of training/evidence of competencies, you will
move to Band 7.

The post-holder will be able to demonstrate that they have a commitment to perinatal and parent/infant mental health and relevant experience working clinically with parents and babies.

Lancashire & South Cumbria Trust Pennine locality has an exciting opportunity for a Team Co-Ordinator to join our community rehabilitation team. Applicants should have a relevant professional qualification (eg. BSc in Occupational Therapy), operational experience and clinical experience working with older people at risk of falls.

You will join our teams in supporting patients in a community setting and must be highly motivated leader, a conscientious team player with excellent communication and analytical skills.

You will have at least two years’ experience working in a community setting at band 6 level with excellent rehabilitation and falls management knowledge.
