ASEPTIC SERVICES MANAGER

The pharmacy at Milton Keynes University Hospital needs to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated individual, focused on providing the best possible patient care and experience. You would work as an
integral part of our team to help us deliver our departmental service to a high standard.

We are looking to recruit a Pharmacist at the start of their career in aseptic services, or an experienced Technician, to the role of Aseptic Services Manager. If the appointed individual is a Pharmacist, they will deputise for the Accountable Pharmacist. A new purpose built Aseptic unit
opened in March 2020, this is co-located within the Cancer Centre building.

A new radiotherapy centre is also being constructed with an anticipated opening date in winter 2024. The main pharmacy department has also undergone a major refurbishment project and installed a new
dispensing robot.

Aseptic Unit you will provide an excellent service to the trust ensuring prompt and efficient production and supply of medicines. Duties may include:
 Overseeing the running of the aseptic unit on a daily basis.
 Contribute to the management of the quality system operated within the aseptic unit.

 Assisting in stock control and financial management of budgets.

Recording, collating and assessing environmental and performance data, witing and presenting reports to senior management.

Trust Responsibilities

· To lead the operational management of the aseptic dispensing activities to ensure the safe and efficient supply of pharmaceutical products for patients and to support staff in the effective management of medicines.

· To be responsible for the training of healthcare professionals on aseptic dispensing practices and other systems for managing the supply of aseptically prepared medicines to patients as required for the efficient and effective running of the hospital’s services.

· To review the service in light of demand and escalate concerns regarding safety of the unit

Education & Training

· To ensure new staff receive a full induction, and those in training positions have the necessary training provided to ensure they achieve the competencies required for the qualification for which they are studying.

· To identify training needs of managed staff so they are able to undertake their required roles.

· To evaluate the training provided.

· To identify own training needs.

· To maintain a portfolio of practice to fulfil the mandatory continuing professional development requirement of The General Pharmaceutical Council.



Research and Audit

· To collect data for internal audits of dispensing, supply and procurement to provide good quality assurance.

· To liaise on pharmaceutical aspects of oncology clinical trials with the lead pharmacist for clinical trials and to ensure the safe and appropriate storage of trial drugs.

Capital Projects Manager - Decarbonisation Program

The Estates Department is seeking an experienced Capital Projects Manager to oversee the Trust’s major decarbonisation initiative, which aims to transition approximately 70% of the estate to a District Heat Network as its primary source of heating and hot water. This project has received full business case approval and secured grant funding.



This position presents an excellent opportunity for a qualified and driven individual who is passionate about decarbonisation to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational and communication skills, along with the ability to take initiative.



While this role will primarily focus on the Decarbonisation Program, the Trust is involved in various Business As Usual (BAU) and Strategic Capital Projects, necessitating collaboration with other projects as needed.



A background in healthcare planning at a senior level is essential, as is a proven history of successfully delivering capital programs, particularly those exceeding £1 million. Experience with similar decarbonisation projects in large estates, along with knowledge of the technologies and requirements for heat decarbonisation, is highly desirable. Familiarity with PSDS grant funding is also preferred.

The Decontamination Unit provides a comprehensive decontamination service to theatres, wards and departments within the hospital complex. The unit processes reusable surgical equipment and medical devices.

As a clinical support service, the department operates from 8am – 7pm (Monday – Friday) and 8am – 4pm Saturday. An on-call system is in operation from 4pm Saturday until 8am Monday. This on call system forms part of the team leader role. The on call covers trauma & emergency service for theatres and departments out of hours

The current shift patterns are 8am – 4pm (early) and 11am – 7pm (late) on a rotational basis but the person appointed would need to flexible and change shifts at short notice to manage the needs of the service.

Oversee the provision of an effective press office function which gives accurate and timely responses to media enquiries and monitor media coverage to identify weak areas and develop and maintain strong areas.

Oversee the production, content and distribution of the core elements of the annual report and other publications as required.

Lead an effective, professional communication and stakeholder engagement team, ensuring all Trust HR policies are adhered to.

Exercise ability to analyse and interpret highly complex facts, situations or communications to provide sound communications and engagement advice to the senior leadership team to ensure a best-practice approach to communications is adopted across all projects, programmes and engagement forums.

Manage the full communications and engagement budget, including management of ongoing service contracts and the procurement of news goods/services, and display good fiscal responsibility to ensure that value for money is delivered.

Sound knowledge of Data Protection 2018/GDPR and other relevant legislation, including Freedom of Information, Environmental Health Regulations, Computer Misuse Act, and an understanding of the new changes to the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.



The Information Governance department ensures the integrity, availability, security, and efficient use of information resources across the Trust. The team supports the management of information and records to ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and best practices.



The role is demanding and requires someone with confidence, the ability to think on their feet, and liaise at all levels. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential in this ever-changing environment.

To be an integral part of the Information Governance department at Milton Keynes University Hospital, supporting the Head of Information governance by contributing and participating on all matters relating to the IG framework to ensure the Trust complies with current and future legislation, national guidance and best practice in the areas of Information Security and Information Governance including requirements set by NHS Digital, Government and other mandating agencies.



Main duties:



To add value and contribute to the delivery of the Trust’s objectives by working with all staff groups providing professional IG advice on data protection and Information Security.



To manage designated Data Security and Protection Toolkit requirements within timescales with all supporting evidence available for audit review in a well-structured and organised manner whilst monitoring continuing progress against the standards.



To support the IG incident process from triage of the original report through to reporting, if required, to the Information Commissioner’s Office and Department of Health consistent with NHS Digital guidance.



To contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust’s Information Governance Policies.



To develop effective and credible working relationships at all levels across the Trust that positively influence patient and staff experience.

Provide high quality, responsive and customer focussed advice in response to often complex, contentious and sensitive requests from a wide range of stakeholders including staff, contractors and the public.



Staff management. Day to day line management of the Information Governance Team and staff development in line with policies and procedures ensuring that good practice in recruitment, appraisal, sickness and performance management.



Participate in recruitment and selection and subsequent employment and induction of new staff.



Ensure training and development needs of staff are identified and acted upon.



Develop effective communication within and between teams across the Trust.



Escalating any issues under the HR policies to the Head of Information Governance in a timely manner.



The post holder will:

· support MKUH preparation for the Inquiry, working alongside the Information Governance Team and Emergency Planning Officer;

· provide records management support throughout the Inquiry, ensuring those involved are aware of the tasks and duties they are responsible for, and the timeframes related to those tasks;

· ensure that records that have been collected as part of the response are appropriately and correctly catalogued stored as per the Records Management process and made available when required.

· responsible for operational management of the records management programme and framework;

identifying where records are held and ensuring the are available centrally;

·drafting policy and procedures, conducting audits, supporting, and training staff and providing records management services to staff; and

·responsible for adherence to the records management process for Covid-19 or other Public Inquiries, the provision of access to the platform and the data held.

eCARE (EPR) Development Manager

The IT Department at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a dynamic, ever-developing, forward-thinking group of people that make up a team that strives to keep the Trust’s systems up to date and responsive to cutting edge technologies, whilst ensuring staff at the Trust are supported to continue to deliver at the highest level.

We currently have an opening for an eCARE (EPR) Development Manager, focusing on the development of the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system called eCARE (Oracle Cerner Millennium).

The successful post holder will have experience working in a healthcare environment, including the support of staff and the development of Oracle Cerner solutions; they will be at the level of an Oracle Cerner ‘Integration Architect’ or have equivalent experience.

The aim of this role is to define and manage the technical framework used by the eCARE and Back Office teams on an on-going basis.

Responsible for the provision of expert level IT and eCARE technical and development services to the Trust.

Specify, develop and maintain eCARE, requiring the use of expert level technicques and expert knowledge of the programming tools available.

Ensure that a consistent and quality eCARE technical support service is provided to all users, this may require the identification and resolution of highly complex problems.

Create and agree system specifications with Trust staff when necessary. Manage staff and their workloads on an on-going basis. Guide, instruct and mentor all members of the eCARE Development team.

Management

Develop and maintain the eCARE Development strategy and align this to associated Trust and IT strategies.

Ensure all team activity is governed and managed in line with current Trust policies and standard operating procedures

Prioritise development requests with business system sponsors ensuring that a healthy customer relationship is maintained at all times.

Use expert knowledge to create viable specifications and communicate what can be very complex solutions to both technical and non-technical staff.

Use expert development skills to produce often complex technical solutions for business system sponsors. Ensure all solutions created conform to development standards as defined in the eCARE Development strategy to include source control, testing , data security, data and application recovery and support and end user documentation.

Create and manage eCARE development project plans through the development project life cycle to include both technical and non-technical work streams.

Ensure along with the business system sponsor that appropriate business continuity plans are established in the event a developed application is unavailable i.e. when system recovery is required.

Manage the application and system maintenance activities performed by the eCARE Development team to ensure that application availability is maximised, systems are robust, and data integrity is maintained and that systems can be recovered in the event of failure quickly and efficiently.

Provide expert level troubleshooting of eCARE issues.

Ensure Trust data is routinely backed up and that system ‘health checks’ are carried out on a daily basis.

Ensure that detailed eCARE system recovery procedures covering all major functionality that has been developed by the team are made available.

Will be involved in the planning, development, installation and maintenance of eCARE to meet user requirements. Managing, coordinating and prioritising eCARE Development team activities. The post holder will be required to contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning and processes and will be required to test these policies. The post holder will be required to manage IT projects through the full project lifecycle of discovery, development, testing, delivery and handover.

Decontamination Team Leader (HSDU)

Hours:Hours 37.5 hours per week – Early shift 8am – 4pm – Late shift 11am – 7pm (This also include 1 Saturday in 4 and full participation in the weekend on call rota)

The department has a vacancy for a full-time team leader. The team leader role encompasses direct supervision of technicians combined with full participation in the operational aspects of the department.

The Decontamination Unit provides a comprehensive decontamination service to theatres, wards and departments within the hospital complex. The unit processes reusable surgical equipment and medical devices.

As a clinical support service, the department operates from 8am – 7pm (Monday – Friday) and 8am – 4pm Saturday. An on-call system is in operation from 4pm Saturday until 8am Monday. This on call system forms part of the team leader role. The on call covers trauma & emergency service for theatres and departments out of hours.

The current shift patterns are 8am – 4pm (early) and 11am – 7pm (late) on a rotational basis but the person appointed would need to flexible and change shifts at short notice to manage the needs of the service.

The ideal candidate will have recent HSDU experience and be familiar with the operational aspects of a Quality Management System.

The successful candidate should hold the e-learning qualification in decontamination, and you would be required to complete the introduction certificate in team leading.



To supervise and participate in daily activities ensuring the effective decontamination and sterilisation of reusable medical devices

Supervise staff in all areas of production and distribution to ensure standards are maintained and work quotas met. Working within a controlled environment to ensure that QMS is effectively operated and monitored in accordance with the Quality Manual and associated Policies and Procedures.
