Working as part of the Policy team, the Scientific Policy Officer will support the scientific policy team, give scientific policy advice and guidance both internally and externally and contribute to policy projects on various areas of policy including our law reform work on future scientific developments and artificial intelligence. The post holder will also be responsible for dealing with patient, public and inspector enquires, including parliamentary questions and queries from media, relating to all our policy areas. A key part of this role will be to act as secretariat to the Scientific and Clinical Advances Advisory Committee (SCAAC) and to support the HFEAs horizon scanning function so that relevant scientific developments can be anticipated, for example, the stem cell-based embryo models, public health outcomes, and the emergence of AI and data-driven technologies. Act as secretariat to the Scientific and Clinical Advances Advisory Committee (SCAAC), including planning meeting agendas and logistics, drafting, and presenting committee papers, liaising with the Chair and committee members and minuting, and coordinating its work and associated SOPs. Responsibilities 1. To support the HFEAs horizon scanning function, including planning the annual horizon scanning meeting, and compiling and presenting scientific literature review findings to the SCAAC. 2. Delivery to School-aged Children and Young People and families Develop and deliver high quality interventions with children and young people that reflect the population of Hammersmith and Fulham, and adapt to meet individual needs. Support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families in the self-management of presenting difficulties. Work in partnership with families to provide culturally appropriate psychological interventions. Hold a caseload, including more complex cases. Make referrals to appropriate agencies (e.g. CAMHS). A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. Our client is a young individual who is non verbal as well as being a wheel chair user and using ceiling hoists. She will require 2:1 care for the rest of her life aiding with the admin of medication through PEG as well as taking fluids in PEG. She will be going for surgery within the next few weeks and will need aid with post surgical care. The post holder will work with the hospital based Neurophysiology team comprising of 1 WTE Lead Clinical Physiologist and 2 WTE Clinical Physiologists. The post holder will have a broad training in Neurophysiology, with experience in leading a multidisciplinary team. They will be equipped to advise on a range diagnostics. Clinical work: The clinical work will be in supervising referrals in collaboration with the Lead Clinical Physiologist ensuring patients are effectively triaged and prioritised as well as clinical oversight of the team caseload. The whole team case load averages 1100 referrals per year and the consultant will have some oversight of all these patients and is expected to see personally the most complex.
