Clinical and Research Responsibilities: Inpatient and outpatient care of haematological cancer patients being treated as part of trials performed on the EPCTU and selected trials being run through the late phase trials team. The focus will be on lymphoma, CLL and myeloma trials although will work collaboratively with the other haematological malignancy trials fellows and cross cover would be expected. Co-ordination and execution of trial activities for EPCTU, including (but not limited to) study specific investigations, sample collection and handling, data collection, case record folder completion, maintenance of study documentation; Liaison with a laboratory group to gain familiarity with the endpoint assays associated with the trial. There also be opportunities to gain experience in performing laboratory techniques associated with a translational project, although the principal focus of the fellow will be on clinical aspects. To provide a comprehensive Administrative Support and Housekeeping service to the Oncology and Haematology Outpatients By taking a lead role in maintaining Bookwise clinic room booking system. This will include maintaining the day to day booking of clinic rooms, auditing of current use, planning for the future and liaising with all stakeholders. By providing the Senior Nurses in the department with administrative support with specific responsibility for coordinating the transport arrangements for patients. By supporting the provision of IT services to the department. Key Duties To work within the Scope of Practice for Mammography Associates/Assistant Practitioners in Breast Imaging and undertake screening and symptomatic mammograms in the static and mobile clinics. Develop job descriptions for replacement or new positions as they arise. Establish a system to monitor and report on the annual Chief Operating Officers budget, liaising with the Senior Team to analyse data commenting on value for money, cost benefit, spend throughout the year, ensuring Cost Improvement Projects (CIP) savings are planned. Oversee the development and publication of the Trusts Silver management rota Service Development and Project Management Support the Chief Operating Officer in identifying both new opportunities for the Directorate arising from changes in the external environment or internal innovation and potential threats and ways to respond to them. Contribute to business planning and strategy development and direction for the Chief Operating Officers office. Manage a range of service improvement projects, e.g. Cost Improvement Schemes, short term and long term, within the Chief Operating Officers office and contribute to both Chief Operating Officers office and Trust-wide improvement projects within agreed timeframes and financial targets, including the quality review of CIP proposals. Manage key projects for the Chief Operating Officer to support the delivery of the departments objectives. This will included a range of initiatives to achieve the strategic aims of the Chief Operating Officers office. Undertake occasional internal audits of the initiatives across the Chief Nursing Officers office. Communication and Partnership Working Ensure the Chief Operating Officer receives regular updates on projects and areas of priority concern. Facilitate and lead meetings and briefings with a range of internal staff and external stakeholders. Receive, manage and communicate highly complex, confidential and sensitive information to members of staff in the department and across the Trust. Act as a contact for national and regional external agencies. Manage, motivate, persuade and influence multiple stakeholders and partners to ensure timely completion of work across the projects and partnerships. Liaise with relevant external parties associated with initiatives and projects within the Chief Operating Officers office. Present to groups within the Trust and other stakeholders key issues that the Chief Operating Officer needs to disseminate. Financial Responsibilities Act as an authorising signatory for capital and revenue budgets within limits agreed with the Directorate. Monitor office and project resource utilisation and expenditures when required. Information Management Co-ordinate and disseminate information to the relevant Director on new national and local policies. Gather, manipulate and present complex data (clinical/financial/ performance) to support project development, design. Provide briefings, board reports and plans for discussion and implementation of policy as required. To evaluate patient progress against agreed treatment goals and be able to modify plans accordingly. To determine a patients mental capacity to understand and to gain informed consent for treatment. To work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent and are deprived of their liberty. To co-ordinate intervention where there is a need to collaborate across multiple disciplines. To maintain accurate written records using an electronic patient record system and maintain fidelity to professional standards. To determine and mitigate for risk of patient and staff harm using the agreed risk assessment frameworks and the Trusts manual handling policy.
