Serco are recruiting for an Air Traffic Services Manager (non controlling) to join their current team based at Hawarden Airport in Flintshire.
The Air Traffic Services Manager (ATSM) is accountable for overseeing the operational provision and performance of Air Traffic Services (ATS) in all aspects, ensuring compliance with all regulatory criteria, and leadership of the ATS team.
This ATSM will maintain the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic, prevent collisions between aircraft in the air and between aircraft and vehicles on the manoeuvring area in accordance with the Serco Aviation Safety Management System. Ensuring that Air Traffic Control Services adhere to relevant regulatory and Serco company standards and procedures.
The nature of this work requires the ATSM to establish and maintain effective working relationships: with all departments across the ATS team and wider contract; airport stakeholders; with the customer and/or customer representatives; with external agencies, specifically regulatory bodies, such as the CAA and with other relevant stakeholders as deemed necessary.
Main Accountabilities:
- Ensuring an efficient Air Traffic Control Service is provided, to include Aerodrome Control Instrument (ADI) & Approach Control Surveillance (APS).
- Responsible for the leadership & management of the Air Traffic Services team, whilst promoting professional standards and employee engagement.
- Work with colleagues to develop and retain talent, ensuring a sustainable workforce for the future, including the conduct of Training Needs Analysis for established and new team members to ensure SQEP is maintained in the most efficient and effective manner
- Providing direction to ATC support personnel, and airside operators to maintain safe and efficient airfield operations.
- Ensuring robust assessment of training, validation, competence, licensing and maintenance of appropriate records.
- Maintaining safety, quality, environmental and regulatory requirements against internal and external standards.
- Fulfil the requirements of Serco Aviation Safety Management System
- Production, implementation, and review of ATC operational procedures.
- Drive operational excellence across the ATS team, including consistency, bestpractice and benchmarking of common operational and management processes from across wider industry.
- Stay updated with industry developments, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and enhance operational efficiency.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- At least 2 years Air Traffic Services Manager/Supervisor experience and with a proven track record of successfully managing and improving air traffic services operations.
- Strong understanding of air traffic control procedures, aviation regulatory environment and safety protocols, with previous/current ATCO ADI & APS experience.
- Strong Leadership, and management skills.
- Written, verbal and presentational communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to make informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Stakeholder management skills.
