We are looking for an incredible ESOL and Employability Tutor to work on Restart who will be responsible for delivery ESOL for Employability within the Restart Scheme which will be located in various venue and offices within the West Midlands and Wales on occasions.
The ESOL Tutor is responsible for the delivery of functional skills programmes, delivered by Restart Serco on behalf of DWP to ensure we meet regulatory and contractual obligations. The purpose of the role is the delivery of contextualised ESOL and Employability skills for unemployed participants who have been mandated to our welfare to work provision. Key accountabilities
- Contribute to the development of high-quality materials, accessible to all learners, to maintain and enhance the quality of learning experiences in digital skills
- Deliver English speaking of other languages ( ESOL ) training from pre entry level to level 3 to cohorts of learners via face -to-face, online learning platforms and other remote systems, and lead face-to-face sessions, either in groups and workshops or one-to-one as required.
- Complete formative diagnostics of learner evidence throughout the programme to ensure appropriate progress of learner towards gaining employment.
- Work with Employment Coaches to prepare a personal development plan for each learner to ensure they complete in a timely manner
- Ensure delivery of the ESOL training will allow learners to successfully complete within the given timescales
- Work with Employment Coaches to provide appropriate Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to all learners on our programmes
- Work closely with colleagues (other tutors, Programme Manager etc) to ensure our ESOL skills portfolio is effectively delivered
- Understand opportunities available for further training in ESOL (both free and funded) in order to share this with learners for advancement.
- Assist in the coordination and marketing of all programmes
- Maintain good communications and strong professional links with all personnel involved in the Restart team and across Serco learning.
What I need to do the role?
Essential
- Qualified to a minimum L3 subject specific (PTLLS, DTLLS, CTLLS or level 3 Certification within employability.
- Minimum L3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent)
- Experience of delivering ESOL, functional skills or Employability programmes
- Experience of designing and delivering education programmes in the adult education sector.
- Relevant industry experience within the welfare to work sector
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of online and face to face teaching techniques
- Ability to motivate unemployed participants throughout their Restart programme
- To show empathy, and understanding
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- DBS and BPSS certification required before delivering to learners
Desirable
- Has an assessor or teaching qualification at level 4 or above qualification teaching
- Experience of working under pressure to meet participants expectations
- Knowledge of online learning and learner management systems
- Commitment to personal development and learning
- Manage own workload, anticipate issues, and thrive under pressure
- Experience of working within AEB, DWP, ESFA or OFSTED regulated environment
- Strive to succeed and maintain a pro-active attitude to helping others gain sustainable employment.
