The successful candidate will be child centred and able to form excellent relationships with students, staff and parents. You will be highly professional, dedicated and well organised. We require an enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated Assistant Head of Year as soon as possible. The successful candidate will support, complement and work alongside the Head of Year at Lord Grey Academy. Together with the Head of Year you will work with our students to overcome barriers to learning and support good attendance and behaviour.

The successful candidate will be child centred and able to form excellent relationships with students, staff and parents. You will be highly professional, dedicated and well organised. You will be able to balance your role in the school. You will have good organisational, ICT and administrative skills. The successful candidate will be highly supportive of their Head of Year and will be focused on motivating students to believe in the School ethos.

The Assistant Head of Year will also take on a secondary role in school either as a staff member of the ISR room (Internal Suspension Room) 2 Periods every day, or as a Cover Supervisor supervising students in lessons when the teacher is absent. Assistant Heads of Year can cover up to 12 lessons per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the co-ordination and leadership of learning within one half of a year group and support students to give them the confidence to be ambitious and succeed. They will work closely with the other Year Team Leader and a Key Stage Leader meaning it is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for their first step into middle leadership.

We require, as soon as possible, a well-motivated, committed and energetic Head of Year. Year leaders are totally committed passionate about tracking academic progress and tackling underachievement. The successful candidate will be able to form excellent relationships with staff, students and parents and will be a caring and supportive individual who is approachable and reliable. The successful candidate will model exemplary standards of professionalism and integrity to colleagues, tutors and tutees.

You will be rigorous in monitoring the work of Form Tutors and will be excellent in motivating students to believe in their House ethos. The successful candidate will be competent in analysing data on student progress and will be skilled in early identification of under achievement and will be confident in drawing on a range of strategies to tackle that under achievement. He/she will be a supportive line manager to his/her Assistant Head of Year and will be consistent in application of school procedures, policies, rewards and sanctions.
