What skills and experience we're looking for
The Minster School wish to recruit to the post of PE Technician. This role forms a central part of the work of the department and they will work closely with teaching staff and other support staff to support, develop and further extend the work of the department and the experiences of the students. The successful candidate will be committed to supporting and contributing to our school ethos of Succeeding Together and the values of Wisdom, Optimism, Resilience, Kindness and Service.
The postholder will work as part of the administrative team but will also provide specialist and regular classroom-based support within the PE Department. Through this role, the post holder will develop experience of working within a school setting to support progression on to PE Initial Teacher Training. Candidates will therefore be required to hold a degree in PE, Sports Science or a related field. This post will be available for a maximum of 2 years, with the expectation that the postholder will progress on to PE Initial Teacher Training within 1-2 years of starting the post, either within the Minster Learning Alliance (MLA) or with an external organisation. (A place on the School Direct Initial Teacher Training course with MLA cannot be guaranteed and will be determined by availability of PE places and the postholder’s application).
The PE Technician will provide administrative support and provide regular classroom cover and support to the PE Department. In addition, the PE Technician will be responsible (through coordination with the Head of PE) for supporting and delivering some extra-curricular activities and for arranging and attending fixtures for the various sporting teams and events throughout the year
