The position serves as a Project Engineer at an assigned Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System. This position performs project planning, produces designs, manages designs, manages construction, and provides construction administration for Minor Construction Projects, Non-Recurring Maintenance (NRM) Projects, Station Level Projects, and Leases, including all areas and aspects (architectural, electrical, life safety, mechanical, civil, structural, etc.) at an assigned medical center and associated Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)'s. A. Performs Healthcare Planning/Design Management
The position determines the requirements for healthcare projects in relation to the needs of the Healthcare System, inclusive of the parent site, as well as off-site locations under the auspice of the Healthcare System, whether VA owned or leased. Project needs are determined for the organization down to the department level based on a broad array of guidelines, standards, regulatory requirements and mission priorities. The incumbent will independently determine the needs of the Veteran/caregiver and provide administrative support across inter-professional clinics and support centers. The MSA is responsible for scheduling and rescheduling appointments, referring patients to other medical specialty clinics, providing information to patients necessary to resolve complaints, interactions with both internal and external customers, reviewing and documenting clinical and administrative electronic health records (EHR); obtaining medical information from patients, coordination information and actions related to patient care and services; and scheduling appointments in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines. MSA refers all questions regarding medical attention to the appropriate health care team member.

Independently performs a full range of duties related to the delivery of healthcare services at JJP VA Medical Center. The MSA advises clinical staff on current administrative processes, working collaboratively across administrative and clinical services at the medical center to address patient's needs. The MSA provides customer service with the ability to identify customer concerns, and refer to the appropriate staff, as necessary, to ensure a satisfactory resolution.

The MSA's responsibilities can include any point the Veteran interacts with the medical center while navigating their health services. This includes but is not limited to assistance with screening patients, visitors, and caregivers, assisting with Veteran's interaction with kiosks and self-service machines, clinic registration and scheduling. Project management: Assist senior staff members in planning, engineering management, operation, and overall coordination; and for providing advice, assistance and information on all matters related to assigned conventional projects of moderate complexity. The Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse with specialized knowledge and demonstrates advanced beginner skills when providing and directing care for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), acute kidney injury (AKI), and late-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD). Collaborates with other disciplines/departments to achieve desired patient outcomes. Functions as primary nurse for ESRD patient panel and serves as key resource assisting patients navigate the healthcare system. The New Mexico VA Healthcare System (NMVAHCS) is seeking two Anesthesiologists in Albuquerque, NM. The NMVAHCS has an academic affiliation with the University of New Mexico. This position has the possibility of obtaining a clinical appointment at the University of New Mexico and allows time for academic study and responsibilities. The Anesthesia Service is a collegial department consisting of Anesthesiologists and CRNAs, with anesthesia residents, medical students, and SRNAs that rotate through the department.

• Full range of perioperative care. This includes extensive participation in preoperative optimization of surgical patients; intraoperative clinical pathways including ERAS; postoperative management including participation in care in the surgical intensive care unit; and acute and chronic pain management services.

Program Management

• Develops a system to identify SCI patients served by the facility and community who belong in this special disability group. This may involve use of the Spinal Cord Dysfunction (SCD) Registry, Patient Treatment File searches, Veterans Health Information System and Technology Architecture (VistA) and Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) records, SCD reports and/or Classification reports, Patient Data Exchange, Network Health Exchange, and contacts within the community.

• Completes psychosocial evaluation and assessment and periodic reassessments of each patient served, which provides a comprehensive social database to identify psychosocial, social, and vocational needs and the appropriate treatment and services to be provided.
• Established and maintains therapeutic relationships with SCI Veterans and their families. Manages and coordinates provision of the following services as appropriate: Activities of Daily Living (AOL); Personal Care Attendant (PCA); Nutritional Management; Prosthetic Appliances; Medical Supplies; Vocational Rehabilitation; Leisure and/or Avocational Interest; Peer Counseling for Families and/or Significant Others; Transportation and Finances; Home Evaluations; Housing Alternatives; and Identification, Development and Utilization of Community Resources.
• Refers Veterans to other organizations and community resources (i.e., housing alternatives, personal care services, transportation resources, etc. or other VA governmental resources) for services not available from the VHA facility.
• Maintains a current, productive network of referral resources to include substance abuse treatment, outpatient medical/psychiatric care, vocational rehabilitation, etc. and with Veterans Service Organizations, including the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).
• Makes home visits to assess the home environment when appropriate to ensure that services are provided that will enable the Veteran to live safely and independently.
• Establishes and maintains an ongoing education program for patients, students, and staff to facilitate understanding of medical treatment, including clinical practice guidelines, long term care, psychosocial problems facing the SCI population, home care, psychosocial adjustment, and caregiver issues specific to SCI/D.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring, for compliance and timely update, of expiration of time-limited credentials.
• Serving as subject matter expert (SME) in the field of credentialing.
• Receiving and reviews VetPro reports detecting problem areas requiring further investigation.
• Managing provider applications (initial) for Non-LIPs credentialing within the VAMC.
• Assuring application packages and other documents meet technical requirements per specialty of provider and assures application folder and database account (VetPro or other internal databases and spreadsheets) meet technical requirements.
• Determining processes for coordination of incoming data and documents from a variety of sources.
• Analyzing and managing issues related to documents that do not meet expected requirements, regulations or guidelines such as adverse actions against licensures, certifications, and NPDB) CQ reports.
• Conducting final appointment into the VetPro database, after thoroughly researching, analyzing and validating all data, information, documents and signature authorities.
• Developing and providing routine and special reports as requested by the C&P manager/Analyst.
• Possessing a credit card and is responsible for maintaining records, reconciling monthly charge statements and verifying legitimacy of requests for NPDB Single and CQ enrollments/ renewals, licensure verification (if applicable), National Student Clearing House, Work Number and certifications (if applicable).
• Reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies with Fiscal Service.
• Performing other credentialing duties as assigned.
