The role

In order to achieve this we are looking to add an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Practitioner to our Cared for Children service.

The Senior Practitioner role is the first step on the management ladder. You will be part of a team led by a Team Manager. You will hold a small caseload of complex cases whilst supporting the Team Manager in improving the service delivery to our cared for children by providing a mentoring and coaching role for social workers and you will deputise for the team manager in chairing meetings and providing management oversight for cases.

You will contribute to ensuring timely care and permanence planning for children, achieving this through professional and reflective supervision, supporting staff learning and development and ensuring the production of high quality work to improve the outcomes for our Cared for Children.

About the Role

The Project

The current MyCity Directory is an online environment providing Salford citizens with a centralised point of access to local area service providers and related events.

The directory is categorised to deliver information on Services and Groups, Childcare, the Local Offer (services for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities and their parents/carers), and Adult Care and Support.

The directory aims to deliver a comprehensive and up-to-date environment for the promotion and listing of services and event-based activities available to Salford citizens alongside appropriate static information and external links to important resources, information and national services.

As well as delivering on the local authority’s statutory requirements the directory is a vital source of information and advice, bringing together several local government service provision departments. It is therefore itself a service of high strategic value and importance in supporting the work of service providers, front-line officers and in improving overall access to service provision.

The Problem

The current directory is unable to support the council’s roadmap for digital transformation and customer engagement.

The current directory does not have the infrastructure needed to support the development of the customer’s digital experience in finding appropriate service information, nor the infrastructure to embed that experience into other operations associated with streamlining the creation and use of a single digital identity.

As a result, the following are increasingly subject to a deteriorating quality of service:

• Accessibility of information
  
• Quality of signposting and referral pathways
  
• User search experience and relevance of offer

The Solution

The proposal for the Community Platform is to use a microservices approach, rather than a monolithic approach.

The microservices approach separates the services that build up a webapp into their individual components. This allows for the services to be designed, built, tested and implemented individually and allows for individual services to be updated, redesigned or even to fail without causing the whole of the webapp to be affected.

The platform will be a dynamic, centralised information environment with web-services, advanced user functionality and applied intelligence that enhances the user’s experience and increases the accessibility and capacity of local area services.

The solution must be:

• A bespoke platform that delivers ongoing user and data development for Salford City Council, partners and stakeholders.
  
• An accurate, up-to-date information environment with a suite of tools for improving, monitoring and maintaining the quality of the user’s experience.
  
• Responsive to the needs of users, to establish more personalised and effective pathways for advice, referrals, bookings & transactions.
  
• The structure on which data sharing, analysis and intelligence capacity can be built and an evolving statement on accessibility and equality of opportunity.

About you

As Attendance Manager, act as Children’s Trust Practitioner, contributing to St Winifred’s Catholic Primary School being viewed as a centre of excellence for safeguarding the welfare of our pupils.
Take a lead role in the administrative design, implementation and maintenance of support systems and procedures in the event of changes in legislation, best practice to meet the needs of the school.
Uphold the policies, procedures and codes of practise of the school, including relating to customer care, data protection, ICT, health and safety, anti-bullying and safeguarding/child protection.
Work alongside Headteacher, in ensuring that:
- ‘Every Day Counts and Every Child Matters’ at St Winifred’s Catholic Primary School.
- Have a lead role in managing the Attendance of pupils.
- Support the Attendance and Engagement Team and work proactively to develop strategies to improve whole school attendance and punctuality.
- Work with safeguarding professionals to collaboratively secure pupil safety, care and well-being.

Act on and secure compliance with policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding, Child Protection, health, confidentiality and data protection reporting all/any concerns to the Headteacher/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Have a key role within St Winifred’s Safer School Partnership Meetings.
Promote and secure the attendance and achievement of key groups of pupils e.g. Looked After Children (and those ‘informally’ LAC), Pupil Premium and vulnerable pupils.
Liaise with external agencies, e.g. School Attendance Improvement Service/EWO, Social Workers and Complex Case Workers, Safer Schools Partners, GMP etc.
Ensure that all documentation produced is of a high standard, in line with ‘in house’ style and administrative processes that are efficient, effective and pupil centred.
Liaise with the School Nurse and Health Care professionals when appropriate/required.
Co-ordinate First Aid provision and ensure that training needs are met and supplies are maintained.
Liaise with the Deputy Headteacher and SENDCO to secure continuity of education and care for pupils with significant medical needs and/or physical disability.
As directed by line managing Headteacher, prepare Case Planning and secure Case Recording.
Contribute to Education Health & Care Plans/TAFs, as required.
Support co-ordination of EWO working and multi-agency liaison with appropriate external agencies, e.g. Children Services, Courts, etc.
Manage and advise the Headteacher/AHT re: Pupil Leave of Absence Requests.
Work alongside the Headteacher manage St Winifred’s punctuality systems.
Secure and record Minutes of Meetings (actions taken, actions needed and outcomes).
Ensure accurate record keeping for all interventions relating to attendance.
Support pupils and their families on all matters relating to pupil welfare.
Monitor, challenge and encourage pupils, parents and carers, in order to promote and secure pupils’ attendance, confidence and progress.
Ensure that first day absence calls are made and responded to.
Co-ordinate any ‘follow up’ home visits for non-attending students.
Facilitate meetings with parents/carers and other agencies.
Ensure appropriate management for all re-admission and re-integration of pupils who have left or have been absent.
Communicate to relevant stakeholders re: attendance, punctuality and pupil welfare e.g. parents/carers, SLT and Governors.
Provide information for the Newsletter, when appropriate.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated Senior Science Technician to join our friendly, supportive, and outward looking team of teachers and technicians.
