- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
- Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding and ability to respond to such concerns effectively and efficiently.

Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel work in partnership with a successful 11-16, mixed comprehensive trust school located in Romsey, graded 'GOOD' by Ofsted with 'outstanding qualities'. The school is going through an exciting transition with their SEN Department and the Student Support Centre. This term the departments began working together more, to support the individual needs of students and are now seeking to recruit additional Teaching Assistants to join the team from the new academic year in September.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide support to individual students who have Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP's). Such students may have a variety of special educational needs, ranging from social communication difficulties, autism, dyslexia or behaviour issues. You would primarily be supporting these students on a 1:1 or small group basis within a class setting, following the instructions of the class teacher.

Experience working with young people with special educational needs or experience of social communication difficulties would be beneficial, but not essential. The school are looking for passionate people who have a strong desire to support young people overcome their barriers to learning. Candidates must have a high standard of communication, numeracy and literacy and be able to promote these effectively to ensure we deliver outstanding academic outcomes for our young people.

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant
Pay: £80 - £90 per day
Location: Southampton
Working Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm
Long Term, Full-time

GSL Education are working with a number of SEN Schools and Alternative Education Provisions across Southampton that are looking for teaching assistants.
The needs of the pupils within the provisions vary from complex needs to challenging behaviour and SEMH needs.
These schools support the growth and development of pupils aged between 5-16 years and are responsible for devising a personalised curriculum for each child.
The work pattern will be Monday- Friday Time: 08:30-03:30

The ideal candidate will:
- Have lots of patience, be proactive and resilient! - this role can be challenging, but it is very rewarding!
- Ideally you will have experience working within a SEND/SEMH school
- A strong ability to develop relationships and rapport with pupils
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Role of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Supporting a teacher with a small class of 4-8 pupils
- Working with pupils with ASC, complex needs, challenging behaviour and SEMH
- Full and part time (ad-hoc) positions available
- 1:1 work ensuring pupils stay on track with the curriculum
