HEALTH & SAFETY ADVISOR
Location: Bournemouth and Portsmouth area
Salary: Up to £14 per hour
Contracted Hours: 40 hours per week/ Full Time
About the Role
As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring our nurseries comply with all health and safety regulations and best practices. This position is home based but you will be out at settings auditing at least once a week and other site visits depending on the needs of the nurseries in Bournemouth and Portsmouth area, so it is essential that you are based locally within these locations to provide timely and effective support. Your primary responsibility will be to support the updating and reviewing of the Health and Safety manual, as well as other related policies, to reflect the latest legal requirements and best practices across our nurseries
What does the role involve?
- Ensure auditing is carried out to a high standard and settings are supported with completing the actions.
- Complete and update Health and Safety grids and link progress to the Managers bonus grid in line with monthly pay role.
- Work in conjunction with Health and Safety Leads and Managers to maintain safe systems of work and implement best practice, including support guidance and training as needed.
- Analyse accidents and identifying trends within Health and Safety data including RIDDOR.
- Liaise and report as needed with outside agencies such as HSE and Public Health.
- Monitor compulsory Health and safety certificates and ensure inspections are carried out, this includes PAT testing, LOLER inspections and Fire testing.
- Provide support with all aspects of Heath and safety as and when required. Maintain own knowledge by keeping up to date with any changes to procedures and policy via the LMS.
What are we looking for?
- NEBOSH/IOSH certification or equivalent in Health and Safety.
- Proven experience in a Health and Safety role, ideally within the childcare, education, or similar sectors.
- Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate staff at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to health and safety challenges.
