The skills you’ll need:

We’re looking for someone with extensive relevant technical and research leadership experience. You’ll hold an academic degree in a social science discipline, with a strong quantitative analysis element, or you’ll have a proven equivalent track record.

You’ll also have experience in empirical social science design and execution, covering statistics, causal inference and data science. Knowledge of large-scale business data handling such as databases and SQL would be beneficial, as would an understanding of retail banking, financial markets and code development and quality assurance practices such as Git, GitLab and GitHub.

In addition to this, we’re looking for:

• Enterprise level coding experience including object-oriented programming, ideally using Python

Coordinate and manage IG operations in support of research, keeping the Head of IG, the Director for Research, and the Chief Operating Officer for INSIGHT apprised of outcomes and escalating issues as appropriate. This post is based in the Joint Research and Development (R&D) Office of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and the UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH). The Joint R&D Office is responsible for all R&D governance, administration and research management, holding comprehensive data on all clinical and non-clinical research taking place across both organisations. The Joint R&D Office provides a number of services including the provision of advice and support on research governance, ethical approval, data protection, a comprehensive grants advice service, advising on commercially sponsored research, and the management of Intellectual Property (IP). Reporting to the Head of R&D. The post holder will lead the provision of a high quality service with respect to research and knowledge exchange contracts and a wide range of related agreements. This will require extension liaison with internal stakeholders (academic colleagues, research and business development teams, senior managers) and a wide range of external partners (including funders, collaborators and regulatory bodies) to propose, review, adapt and negotiate a required a wide range of agreements for research studies at GOSH/ ICH, these include funding agreements, studentship, research collaboration agreements clinical trial agreements, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements and subcontracts including contract amendments. Professionally responsible for own workload and works autonomously/work autonomously without access to higher internal legal services Undertake thorough reviews of research protocols, to analyse and make definite judgements on the activity and resource requirements based on information which will be highly complex. Liaise with senior clinical academics and senior managers in finance to discuss cost and operational implications, for example advising on service commitments. Liaise with Finance teams to ensure the budgets for inclusion in contracts are appropriate and cover costs of work carried out. Contribute to drawing up of research study budgets and clarifying costing model to research staff Negotiate and agree contractual and financial terms on commercial and non-commercial contracts with, senior research staff, pharmaceutical companies, Contract Research Organisations (CROs), Universities and NHS Trusts ensuring that appropriate measures and terms are in place to protect the Trusts interests. This will include management of legal and financial risks, enabling future research and teaching activity and management of Trust assets e.g. intellectual property. You will ensure that risks are acceptable and understood and secure the best possible outcome for the Trust. Prospect Development Manager

About us

The Fundraising and Partnerships Team aim to achieve income targets to support the ambitions of the Science Museum Group (SMG) to inspire futures. The Prospect Development team enable the Fundraising & Partnerships team to achieve their income targets by delivering insightful research and strong pipeline management.

We are now recruiting for a Prospect Development Manager on a permanent, full-time contract, working 35 hours per week. This role can be based at any of the following SMG sites: Science Museum in London, Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, National Railway Museum in York, National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, with hybrid working also included.

About the role

As Prospect Development Manager you will work to identify new target donor audiences and embed a proactive prospect development strategy that delivers strong, long-term pipelines across our museums and income streams. As well as identifying high-quality prospects and delivering well researched prospect intelligence, you will build and work in partnership with fundraisers to maximise the value of their pipelines.

You will also work alongside the rest of Fundraising Operations to drive a data-driven way of working, using our CRM database and analytics platform to ensure that all opportunities are maximised. Furthermore, you will manage a Prospect Development Executive and work collaboratively to support fundraising across all SMG Museums.

Along with prospect research tasks, you may also be working on more collaborative pieces such as exploring the prospect potential for upcoming capital projects like the build of a new gallery space, large event biography documents for annual dinner events or the creation of a new report or process to support the wider Department.

About you

Joining us, you will have experience of working in a fundraising team in a prospect research capacity, in addition to a good understanding of the pivotal role research plays in prospect management, cultivation and stewardship. You will have good research skills with the ability to work with a CRM database and experience of collating and analysing complex information.

Crucially, you will be a good communicator with the ability to collaborate with others, build good working relationships and deliver complex information in a clear way to a variety of audiences. You will be able to manage your time and prioritise tasks effectively in order to meet deadlines and manage competing demands.
