What skills and experience we're looking for

SEND Learning Support Assistant – BG7 (TTO pro rata)
Contract: This is a temporary post to start as soon as possible.
Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School currently has a vacancy for a full-time LSA for 32.5 hours a week. The successful candidate will be timetabled to work both as a Class LSA and as a 1:1 support with SEND pupils across the primary range. Experience of the classroom environment, knowledge of phonics, working with pupils with an ASC diagnosis, developmental delay and knowledge of Attention Autism and PECs would be desirable. Training and support will be provided as appropriate.
You will be joining a friendly, open, welcoming team working within the school. We are looking for someone with a passion for setting high expectations and aspirations for all children and especially those with SEND. Experience of supporting class teachers in differentiating a curriculum to support children’s needs and an understanding of approaches to develop self-esteem is important. What you'll be doing



- Preparing and serving a selection of foods and beverages
- Cleaning down and setting up displays.
- Maintain hygiene and health and safety standards.
- Ensure company rules and policies are followed and
- Annual training including food safety and health and safety.





Experience



- Security vetting required
- Training will be provided on site
- A confident, flexible team player

What skills and experience we're looking for

• Specific experience is less important than a willingness to gain experience of classroom practice and working with students.

• Interest in working with young people in a classroom environment.

• Good written communication and interpersonal skills

• An interest in education.

• An eagerness to learn quickly.

• Good subject knowledge, in at least one area

• Some knowledge of the secondary curriculum.

• Some knowledge of behaviour and learning strategies/programmes

• To be able to take responsibility for planning work

Further details about the role

We offer a unique opportunity for gifted and enthusiastic individuals to spend up to two academic years in the school and classroom environment, gaining a breadth of experience working with students and contributing to the extra-curricular activities within the school.This post is offered as a fixed term contract until August 2026 in the first instance.

You will provide daily cover for absent subject teachers and work as a Teaching Assistant alongside lead teachers in supporting the learning of all students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and assist in the delivery of extra-curricular activities such as Sport, and / or Performing Arts.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to relate well to both children and adults, be able to work constructively as part of a team, have a willingness to gain experience of classroom practice having a genuine interest in working with young people. This post may be attractive to those looking to follow a career into teaching or newly qualified teachers without a current position especially in the areas of PE, Performing Arts, English, Maths, Science and Humanities.
