What skills and experience we're looking for

As part of the role:

• You will follow the direction of the class teacher
• You may be required to work away from the classroom on a one-to-one basis
• You will provide one-to-one support to access educational activities and learning as per the pupils EHCP
• You will liaise with other professionals to support the therapeutic needs of the pupil
• You will work one-to-one on specific therapeutic intervention programmes, as instructed and trained by therapists such as speech and language therapy (communication and oral desensitisation), physiotherapy (rebound, hydrotherapy and land based) and occupational therapy (sensory and functional)
• You will complete relevant reports and provide additional information to the class teacher as requested
• You must have experience of working with children with complex SEND

• You will take the lead on feeding the pupil through a gastrostomy site and be given full training
• You must have the knowledge and understanding of the skills required for this post
• You will be given full training in order for you to support the specific therapeutic needs of the pupil

Our school comprises 4 buildings: The Infants, The Juniors, The Nursery and our focused provision known as The Lighthouse.

A commitment to safeguarding and the well-being of all children;
To be compassionate, caring, a role model to others;
L3 NVQ or equivalent qualification
A flexible approach to working within different key stages;
To support groups of children in the classroom;
When necessary support the individual needs of an individual child;
A high level of communication skills with the ability to relate positively to children and adults;
Interest in supporting children with complex SEND;
The ability to work well in a large team;
A proven ability to work on their own initiative;
A sense of humour.
