• To provide primary administrative support to the clinical staff and all patients under their care.
• To ensure appointment requests received via the Preoperative Assessment email inbox are booked in line with the Trust’s Elective Access Policy.
• Open and prioritise incoming correspondence, ensuring supporting information is available when appropriate.
• Liaise with Inpatient and Outpatient Booking Teams to ensure effective pathway management and good working relationships.
• Maintain an accurate and current filing system in electronic record systems.
• Check in patients attending their Preoperative Assessment appointment, update patient details on EPR, print wristbands and put on patients explaining the process, checking name and date of birth.
• Ensure patients complete questionnaires where necessary.
• Request urine sample from patients that require one, offering guidance of testing location.
• Complete the clinic prep process ensuring everything is present for the patient’s appointment.
• Act upon queries from referrers, patients, and other relevant parties in liaison with clinical staff.

• Liaise with multidisciplinary team to assist the prioritisation of clinical procedures
• Book procedure arrangements into EPR and other systems at times appropriate to individual patient request, clinical priority and procedure & electro-medical equipment availability.

The Churchill pharmacy and renal team are looking for an experienced Pharmacy Assistant looking looking to expand their skillset with a move from Community into Hospital Pharmacy, or are looking to progress further in your career within a Hospital setting. Ideally you will have obtained your Specialist BTEC Level 2 Principles and Practices for Pharmacy Support Staff Pharmacy Service Skills NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent GPhC recognised qualification), although this is not essential and support through the qualification process can be provided (successful applicants who do not hold the required qualification will be paid at band 2, rising to band 3 on successful completion of the qualification). Many of our staff progress from this level to become Pharmacy Technicians or other roles within the wider Pharmacy team. This position is a blended role involving both the dispensary, and multidisciplinary working with the renal team on a rotational basis at the Churchill Hospital.

The Dispensary team are supported by ever evolving Technology, with electronic prescribing and a robot to support the labelling and dispensing of medications. • To liaise with transport providers to help ensure patients are collected from the clinic promptly.


• To liaise closely with the nursing staff to ensure that clinics run effectively and efficiently. Report any problems to the co-ordinator.


• Assist in the orientation of new staff to the clinical area..


• Pull patient notes from medical records as required.


• To deal with telephone and general enquires promptly and efficiently.


• Assist in maintaining an effective communication network and a harmonious atmosphere within the unit.


• To attend and contribute to team meetings.


• To help keep patient and non-patient areas clean and tidy,including cleaning examination couches between patients and disposing of linen appropriately.


• To help maintain adequate levels of clinical supplies, stationary and linen, placing orders for non-stock items as required.

• Report all incidents/accidents to the Sister or co-ordinator and assist in the completion of accident/incident forms as appropriate.

In accordance to trust targets ensure that all referrals received into the department are logged on to the Electronic Patient Record system (EPR) ensuring an accurate data set is enhanced and maintained. Review the PTL and breach list every week to ensure that all patients are booked within the trust target.
