Argyll and Bute Council are looking to recruit two permanent full-time Senior IT Engineers to join our IT Networks team. This is an exciting role based in Helensburgh or Lochgilphead, working within a dynamic team with a strong focus on customer service.

These are hybrid posts working 35 hours per week. Whilst much of this role can be carried out remotely, regular team working in person is a requirement of the post so there is an expectation of weekly attendance in the Council’s Lochgilphead or Helensburgh offices. There will also be regular travel to other Council offices/ schools to support the Council’s network.

About the role

You will be engaged in the design, installation and support of voice and data networks. You will be responsible for providing hardware and software support with second and third-line operational support, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of service requests, issues and incidents.

The council has invested in the use of Cisco technology for network infrastructure, Microsoft 365, and Teams for unified communications. The council is seeking an individual who can use their experience and knowledge to enhance a professional team that are engaged in supporting the council’s business.

As a Tribology, Test & Physical Characterization Engineer you will perform a new & exciting function for developing next generational hard disk drive (HDD) Technology, namely Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR), through tribological testing and physical characterization. This job will require you to operate advanced electrical testers, analyze test and physical characterization data and direct a team of technicians and operators. This job will require you to Supervise and direct a team operators in a 24-7 shift model, also understanding operation of advanced testers and analysis of lifetime test and physical characterisation data. In this role you will be directly responsible for managing the personnel who operate Lifetime and Tribology component head testing at the Thailand head operations site. You are a self starter, and have essential management and organizational skills. You are skillful and experienced at hands-on tester operation and handling of delicate components. You have core skills on operation, maintenance and control of testers, data analysis and reporting. You should be proactive, driven and have a R&D and statistically orientated mindset.

• Manage a team of Engineering Operator personnel that perform 24-7 operational tribology testing, assign job rota’s, training needs, performance and career related tasks.
• Ensure all Tribology equipment and testers are available, operated without deviation from official procedures, are well maintained and meet contamination, ESD and safety/hazard requirements.
• Lead tester statistical process control and preventative maintenance activities per IMS/ISO standards, including tester utilization plan and downtime reduction.
• Be fully responsible for lab tidiness (6S) and cleanliness.

The Integrated Sexual Health Services works across mid Nottinghamshire meeting the sexual health and contraception needs for the populations of Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood. To attend professional meetings and study days appropriate to the needs of the service. Thereafter, to provide written evidence of learning and feedback to the Urgent Response Team.
