Hours: 32.5 hours per week (full time), 39 weeks per year (term time only)
Part of the working week will include attending a weekly professional development session every Wednesday after school.

We are looking to appoint a pro-active, enthusiastic and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant to contribute to, and lead teaching and learning experiences across our school covering PPA.
This role involves covering all classes in the school (Reception to Year 6 and our SRB class) on a weekly basis to cover teachers during PPA sessions. They must also be able to show initiative, adaptability and the ability to meet the needs of all learners. The ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with pupils is essential, including ensuring high standards of behaviour and engagement.
The ability to contribute to the nurturing, community focussed ethos of the school is essential. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Main tasks, duties and responsibilities will include:
- To manage, plan and resource a classroom which will encourage the development of all aspects of children’s learning. In particular, to encourage independent use of resources and involvement in their learning
- Provide a stimulating classroom environment, relevant to the interests and development needs of the pupils
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, ensuring appropriate records have been kept.
- To act as a lead and report on children’s progress and attainment to all stakeholders, including parents/carers.
- To perform and keep records of observations, using information gathered to inform individual pupil targets, lesson planning and the preparation of activities
- Contribute to the school’s Performance Management process, supporting colleagues as required
- Manage and deploy colleagues and support staff where required
- Play a full part in the life of the school community, supporting the ethos of the school.
- Comply with school policies and procedures in areas such as assessment, marking, behaviour management and communication with parents, planning, staff meetings and parental events
- Communicate and cooperate with specialists from outside agencies

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
