JOB PURPOSE

(a) To oversee and manage a caseload in an area of law allocated.

(b) To respond to requests for advice, representation etc, from employees.

(c) To manage all aspects of court representation as required.

(d) To advise and/or present to courts, meetings, members at formal appeal hearings or as required by the County Solicitor

(e) To assume a lead role in advising clients on specialist aspects of law and practice as required, e.g. Procurement, Employment, Human Rights, Child Care, Adult Social Care,

Property and to organise/participate in training events as appropriate and/or necessary.

(f) To determine appeals under the Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure of the Local Government Pension Scheme and various internal appeal procedures if required.

(g) To take part in the Legal Services’ Out of Hours service to provide assistance to the

Emergency Duty Team on matters of Childcare and Adult Social Care.

(h) Any other duties appropriate to the grade as may be assigned by one of the Legal Service managers.

The post holder will contribute positively towards the development of the novice clinical coders, will act as mentor to and assist in the training of less experienced coders. Remote Working

The team requires an experienced civil litigation lawyer to assist our busy team with a varied caseload including property litigation, highways and general civil litigation (including debt recovery and judicial review proceedings).

There will be an expectation of some supervision to junior members of the team.

Candidates with previous Local Government experience will be ideal as this is a fast paced role and will require the successful candidate to take on an immediate and complex caseload.

We're looking for a Senior Estates Surveyor to join our team based in Exeter to deliver estates inputs into property projects, making sure the organisation complies with government property legislation and has an estate of the right size, condition, and location. As part of the role, you will support the provision of strategic property advice across National Highways offices and operational estate.

This role will be worked on a hybrid basis, with regular travel to our Exeter office. The successful candidate will need to travel to estates at various points when required.

What you'll be leading on

• Provide advice on property acquisitions and disposals and on Landlord/Tenant issues to maintain the value and condition of the Estate.
• Deal with day-to-day case work on complex/high value property transactions.
• Support the Principal Estates Surveyor on the programme and project management for the delivery of complex/high value works.
• Manage specific activities of the company's property supply chain (professional real estate advisors, agents, and solicitors).
• Build and manage strong relationships with project managers and their teams by providing reliable, accurate and professionally-sound property advice.

To be successful you'll need

• Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with extensive previous experience of estates/property strategy, property acquisitions, disposals and landlord and tenant's matters.
• Evidence of successfully delivering Estates projects to time
• Ability to assimilate and convey complex and challenging information to a variety of audiences.
• Exposure to different types of industries and sectors.
• Influencing and negotiation skills.

The National Highways estate is complex, spanning a huge variety of property types, from depots, outstations and control centres through to farmland and houses. Our division is responsible for all manner of property matters for this estate, ranging from acquiring sites and buildings for our occupation all the way through to the disposal of surplus land.

The CYP with Autism Spectrum Disorder or a Learning Disability Postgraduate Diploma programme involves both academic learning, coursework and supervised clinical practice. Alongside this, the post holder will work with colleagues in a specialist CFHD pathway, building relationships and wider skills in working children and young people with emotional and mental health needs in the community. This will include evidence-based assessment and outcome-monitored interventions in conjunction with the training. As part of the Neurodiversity Pathway, the post holder will work alongside colleagues providing specialist assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions. There will also be opportunities to engage in participation and service development as well as contributing to service delivery within the team as required. Post holders will be employees of CFHD on a substantive contract and also enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course with Exeter University. It is essential that applicants are able to balance a busy work and study schedule. As this is a Postgraduate level training, you will be required to study and perform at academic level and be prepared to work towards their studies outside of identified study time. The post holder will undertake academic and clinical practice training in evidence based psychological therapies and is required to attend, complete and pass all elements of the allocated CYP-IAPT training. The post holder will deliver high quality comprehensive mental health services. The role involves managing a defined caseload with a focus on providing expert assessment, formulation and evidence-based treatment for children and young people with autism and/or learning disability with a particular focus on adapted mental health interventions and support for parents/carers to manage behaviour that challenges in line with NICE guidance. The post holder will contribute to the multi-disciplinary approach of the team, providing integrated healthcare for children across Children and Family Health Devon.
