The post-holders will work closely alongside HPB surgery and hepatology teams, as well as liaise with external referrers. There is the opportunity to attend up to 8 pancreatobiliary training endoscopy lists per week, performing ERCP and EUS under consultant supervision. The posts also offers experience in a range of other fluoroscopy-guided interventional endoscopy procedures, including enteral and colonic stent placement and jejunal feeding tube insertion. The appointees will be responsible for co-ordination of the weekly benign joint Royal Free/UCLH HPB multi-disciplinary team meeting. Depending upon their training needs and interests, there is the opportunity to gain further experience through attendance at weekly MDTs in liver transplantation, hepatobiliary malignancies and hepatology radiology and pathology meetings.



The duties of the role primarily relate to co-ordination and organisation of the PB endoscopy service including the vetting of internal and external referrals. Additionally, the SCF is responsible for running the weekly benign pancreatobiliary medicine MDT, which typically discuss over 40 complex pancreatobiliary cases each week. This includes involvement in the acute pancreatitis network, which is currently being established as a cross-site initiative with RFH HPB surgery and pancreatobiliary colleagues at UCLH. There are typically 10 pancreatobiliary endoscopy lists per week available for training featuring a range of ERCP and EUS procedures.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior clinical fellow to join the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Dermatology Department. An ideal role for someone interested in a career in dermatology, this is an exciting opportunity to learn within one of the largest dermatology departments in London, with an established reputation for dermatology training.

The Dermatology Department consists of comprehensive general and specialist outpatient clinics, including consultants with highly specialised interests, and acts as a tertiary referral centre for eczema, connective tissue disorders and psoriasis, as well as having an active clinical trials unit. The department also runs a comprehensive skin cancer service with a full range of treatment options including Mohs surgery. There is additionally some inpatient capacity that provides care for the local population in North and North Central London.

The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of dermatological conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings, and will be expected to treat patients on behalf of and under the direction of the Consultants.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) post based at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Dermatology Department. The Dermatology Department at the Royal Free is a busy and dynamic unit that provides care both for the local population in North Central London and to a much larger network around North London, and the Home Counties.

As dermatology clinical fellow you will be expected to look after patients with skin disease in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. You will work with a team of trainees and consultants.

The Unit has an excellent reputation for clinical care and research. The post is fully NHS funded and will be most suited to those reaching the end of their specialist training in gastroenterology/ hepatology wishing to gain more extensive experience. As well as liver transplantation, there is opportunity to pursue a sub-specialist interest, for example, in acute-on-chronic liver failure, viral hepatitis, complex portal hypertension and vascular liver diseases, autoimmune liver diseases, hepatocellular carcinoma or non-invasive fibrosis assessment. Applications are invited for a senior clinical fellow in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital, a tertiary Hepatology and Liver Transplant Centre. The Unit has an excellent reputation for clinical care and research. The post is fully NHS funded and will be most suited to those reaching the end of their specialist training in gastroenterology/ hepatology wishing to gain more extensive experience. Hepatobiliary Medicine at the Royal Free Hospital



The Royal Free Hospital has, for a long time been synonymous with research and clinical excellence in the field of hepatology, and with the current near exponential increase in the incidence of liver disease, we aim to remain at the frontier of patient care, research and education.

The Royal Free provides secondary and tertiary Hepatology services. There is excellent access to ITU, a 24 hour TIPS rota and 24 hour consultant led GI bleeding rota. The liver transplant service at the Royal Free has been established for 30 years. The number of transplants performed has increased recently and currently stands at approximately 140 liver transplants per year. We have a live donor program. We are a tertiary centre for patients with hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancy and the full range of surgical, locoregional and oncological treatments is provided for these patients. Dedicated clinics are established for viral hepatitis, liver metabolic disease, primary hepatocellular malignancy, autoimmune liver disease, PBC, PSC, NAFLD, Vascular liver disease as well as clinics for general hepatology and liver transplantation. A number of very active clinical research programs run with themes such as clinical and experimental portal hypertension, acute and acute on chronic liver failure, liver support and liver transplantation, non-invasive fibrosis assessment, clinical trials of new anti-viral agents, metabolic studies of hepatic encephalopathy, pruritis pathways and examining the effect of remote ischaemia pre-conditioning on liver graft function.

A training contract and areas of particular interest would be identified prior to commencement of the post but the following areas could be provided at UHBW:
• Management of complex viral liver disease
• Decompensated chronic liver disease and alcoholic hepatitis
• Portal hypertension
• Liver cancer
• Long term follow-up of the transplant patient and transplant assessment
• Acute liver failure
• Complex biliary and autoimmune liver diseases
• Other training experience available: ERCP/EUS, research meetings, audit/governance

The trainee would have supervised clinic experience, through between 2 and 3 specialist Hepatology clinics weekly (including independently-run ‘Hot-clinic’ for urgent referrals). Direct consultation with the supervising consultant would be expected at the end of each clinic; a half hour discussion session will be included. The trainee would participate in ward cover of Hepatology patients in conjunction with a consultant Hepatologist (there is always hepatology cover) and share responsibility for daily senior hepatology in-reach to AMU/ED/ITU and additional referrals.

It is expected that the trainee will present regular case summary and literature review (i.e. case-based) on a regular basis at the weekly Friday lunchtime Hepatology meeting. A log of these presentations will be kept and form part of the assessment of completeness of training.

To contribute the delivery of the highest quality clinical, education and training and research services through supporting and promoting the involvement of service users, their families and carers and the wider public in the design and delivery of our services. 1. CLINICAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Undertake the routine aseptic production of both diagnostic and therapeutic radioactive medicinal products for clinical use, including investigational medicinal products for clinical trials, operating within the terms of Standard Operating Procedures. This requires regularly drawing up radioactive doses (from heavy lead pots) through heavy and bulky lead protected syringes, many calculations and following complex and precise steps. RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENTS Professionally and legally take responsibility for providing a high standard of clinical care and supporting other staff within Radiopharmacy, Nuclear Medicine and other service users, to do likewise. RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT All duties must be carried out in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, The Medicines Act 1968, The Radioactive Substances act 1993. The Ionising radiation Regulations, The Ionising Radiation (Medical exposures) Regulation and The Data Protection Act 1984 and any other relevant Guidance notes and Departmental Local Rules Be designated as an IR(ME)R operator by the Trust in respect to Radiopharmacy technical duties and know the legal implications involved. Be designated as a Classified Worker by the Trust under the Ionising Radiations Regulations (IRR). This will include participation in personal monitoring for radioactive contamination. Work in accordance with Local Rules, relevant legislation, codes of practice and regulations relating to the use of radioactive material and, in general, to observe safe procedures and good practice in all aspects of patient investigations and radiation work. Work in accordance with SOPs, following GMP, QA and GCP. Review current practice and propose changes where appropriate where benefit to users, other healthcare professionals and patients may result, to contribute to the development of the radiopharmacy service. RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL RESOURCES Order and receipt radiopharmaceuticals and other items from external suppliers using the Trust ordering system. Maintain records of receipt, storage and disposal operating within the terms of Standard Operating Procedures, to fulfil Environmental Agency regulations and GMP. Maintain adequate stock levels, stock rotation operating within the terms of Standard Operating Procedures. Source suitable and new items / manufacturers as required. Responsible for the care and safe handling of equipment and accessories in the area of work. Ensure that equipment faults are recorded appropriately and reported.
