We’re recruiting a Senior Accommodation Support Officer to provide support to our established team as they assist our participants with their housing needs through effective interventions.



Our team of Accommodation Support Officers work with a caseload of adult males within the criminal justice system, in either a custodial or community setting. As a senior, you’ll be on hand to provide advice and guidance to the team where needed, and we’ll ask you to take care of a small amount of our more complex cases.



We’ll need your excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships with referral agencies and stakeholders. You’ll also be responsible for developing high-quality practice among the team through observing and auditing practice, and then providing coaching and mentoring workshops to enable them to develop.



Our successful candidate will ideally already have knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation or experience working within the criminal justice sector.

Input data onto computerised systems as necessary and produce statistics as required by the Team and senior management team.7. Contribute to the co-ordination and oversight of delayed discharge reporting working alongside the Capacity and Flow Manager. Support in the early identification of blockages within the inpatient wards to prevent further delays, alerting appropriate management when there is a potential for an escalation.8. To act as a representative at team meetings including the Bed Management Divisional wide conference call in the absence of the Capacity and Flow Manager.9. To ensure accurate reporting twice daily of the Divisional inpatient position, via the national Escalation Management System.10. Ensure effective communication of the Divisional inpatient position to the Trust wide leadership teams.11. The post holder will be expected to network with Local Authorities, other NHS Trusts, Private sectors and external agencies (i.e., Police) in order to promote positive working relationships with outside providers.12. Use electronic system to ensure patient files and notes follow them on their pathway through in-patient services.13. Make or change bed allocation on behalf of the Division and ensure that relevant documentation and updates are available.14. Ensure that efficient communications between the Team members and other relevant agencies are maintained and signpost bed availability as required.15. Co-ordinate and arrange internal and external transport for patients allocated an inpatient bed.16. Support the Capacity and Flow Managers with the gatekeeping of step-down beds.17. Liaise with operational and tactical commanders out of hours and support in the decision making of bed allocation.18. Compose routine/non-routine documents when necessary.19. Maintain regular contact with the Teams throughout the day when necessary. Exercise independent judgement and initiative based on acquired knowledge if problems arise.20. Attend Team meetings and produce minutes if required. Identify need for stationery, equipment, maintenance work etc. and order, as necessary.21. Establish good levels of communication / liaison with hospital departments / wards and other services involved with the bed management service provision.22. Liaise with Personal / Medical Secretaries, Clerks, and Receptionists when required.23. To co-ordinate annual leave taking with the Team and other colleagues.24. Make full use of information technology and co-operative in the introduction of technological developments.25. When required provide appropriate data for clinical audit purposes and produce audit information for staff within the Home Treatment Team or In-Patient Services.26. Mentoring new members of staff including temporary staff as and when required.27. The ability to work as a team member and be able to adhere to strict guidelines.28. To be responsible for analysing and abstracting complex patient clinical records and applying clinical coding rules and conventions. Inputting clinical coded data onto the Patient Administration System (PAS) for inpatient, day case and outpatient attendances within the timescales agreed between the Trust and user organisations. To assist the Clinical Coding Manager in actively monitoring the completeness and timeliness of coding reporting within the strict monthly deadlines, raising any problems, including any backlogs, and their causes to the relevant divisional manager and any senior clinicians concerned. To attend internal and external meetings, events, and training as and when required and participate in and organise clinical coding workshops, awareness sessions and roadshows for all levels of staff. Attend multidisciplinary meetings to promote a thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical coding and its rules and conventions and raise awareness of the importance of complete, accurate and timely datato all levels of staff within the Trust. To lead the development, implementation, promotion and maintenance of local policy and guidance agreements that relate to clinical coding issues within the divisions. Ensure that all local staff adhere to policy agreements and that they are reviewed regularly and stored in a logical fashion. To assist in the induction, training and mentorship of all staff involved in clinical coding. To be aware of the reporting requirements of the divisions and provide regular feedback on coding, where it affects these areas, as well as specialist advice on the interpretation of diagnosis and procedures. To facilitate the data recall process by being the point of contact for providing details of codes used for specific diagnostic conditions and operative procedures for clinicians, service managers and information staff. To communicate effectively with non-clinical staff, clinicians, nurses, midwives, and managers both internal and external to the trust on coding issues. Attend multidisciplinary meetings, which require clinical coding input, providing regular feedback on coding issues to divisional management and ward staff. To participate in regular training to ensure that coding/leadership skills are continually being broadened and updated, by attending specialty workshops and in-house training as outlined in a personal development plan. Be responsible for maintaining their own portfolio of evidence. To assist the Trust in maintaining a high data quality standard by raising queries regarding anomalies found in the recording of data held on the PAS with the appropriate staff.
