The role
As a Senior / Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. At Devonport Dockyard, Babcock supports the Royal Navy submarine fleet, with a number of operational nuclear and radiological facilities for the upkeep and maintenance of submarines.

For the foreseeable future, Babcock are significantly upgrading the Devonport site and as such you will have the opportunity to support the design and build of new, submarine maintenance facilities.

Day to day, you'll support the business by providing your expert knowledge around safety engineering to ensure the upkeep of our nuclear submarine facilities.

• Provide technical advice on nuclear safety assessment processes and policy
• Ensure compliance with statutory legislation
• Deliver nuclear safety cases
• Develop and implement nuclear safety processes and standards
• You may also be responsible for acting as an intelligent customer for 3rd party deliverables assuring the output is fit for purpose

This role is full time at 36 hours a week with a hybrid working structure and will be based at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

The role
As a Senior Marine Structural Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is a highly prestigious position within our complex shipbuilding programme, developing designs through concept and early-stage design as well as supporting the bidding process. This role will provide you with the opportunity to deliver complex structural solutions within an exciting, interesting team environment. Each week will provide you with new challenges that will test your skills and knowledge.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for authoring, reviewing and substantiating marine designs through calculations, simulations, commissioning and diagnostic test support. You will contribute and lead product development throughout the design lifecycle and provide technical support to our key customers, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of engineering outputs. You will act as Technical Authority and have deep subject knowledge of an aspect of marine engineering.

Primary deliverables of the Senior Marine Structural Engineer

• Substantiation reports/designs for installation solutions;
• Preparation and production of substantiation reports for marine solutions throughout the entire design lifecycle phases (Concept, Basic, Functional, Detail, Manufacturing, Installation and Decommissioning), in line with recognised standards and to the required time, cost and quality requirements.
• Liaising with design teams and other stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality of system designs, including supporting design reviews.
• Develop innovative design solutions with robust engineering substantiation.
• Provide solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in the resolution of technical and production queries.
• Produce technical reports and other documentation.

The role
As a Senior Submarine Repair Specialist, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will play a crucial part in the creation and delivery of our multimillion-pound infrastructure projects, representing the future teams who will ultimately use the new facilities.

Day to day, you'll set the user requirements by supporting the optioneering and development of design solutions to ensure they will enable efficient delivery of submarine projects. Using your developed experience, you will contribute towards the whole infrastructure project lifecycle, from the initial or pre-concept phase right through design and ultimately the build, commissioning, and handover phases.

Projects you'll directly be involved in are:

• 10 Dock - The biggest dry dock at Devonport and Babcock Marine
• 5 Basin East Wall major facility upgrade
• ASTUTE Class fleet time dockings upgrade project
• PWR1 defuel campaign.

The Opportunity

This position is a key value-added role within Structural Heart Operations Finance that partners with various levels of leadership to drive financial ownership, cost efficiency, and process improvement. About the role

Our Senior Team Members are at the heart of the team, assisting with the management of their shop at key times of the day.  They take responsibility of the shop for a few hours a day, either at opening or closing time, handing over to or from shop management.

This role is a full-time position, that is contract at 36 hours a week will be based onsite at our Devonport site, in Plymouth. We are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to support the Surface & Air Portfolio Quality Manager & Manufacturing Quality Assurance Manager in the production facility at CWEW, Devonport. Potential to assist other areas within Mission systems, ensuring delivered product meets the customer requirements for Quality, Cost and On Time Delivery. This will be realised through an audit programme, documentation review and clearance, supporting lean initiatives and root cause investigation and subsequent preventative action.

Day to day, you'll comply with the organisation's quality policies, plans and procedures, as well as:

• Represent the customer's interests and help to maintain the open and collaborative relationship we have. Speak regularly with the customer quality representative.
• Work closely with the Bidding team to ensure the correct adoption of Quality requirements, including capability and resource requirements and associated costs.
• Guide project management and engineers throughout the life cycle to ensure the achievement of specification, in a timely and cost-effective delivery of products and services to our customers.
• Develop strong customer relationships, so that organisation growth opportunities are supported with a quality, value driven approach.

This role is full-time, 36 hours per week, based at Devonport Royal Dockyard with a hybrid working arrangement of 2-3 days per week working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Quality Engineer:

• A proficient quality assurance engineer with experience in a related industry and be familiar with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle.
• Previous customer-facing roles or experience is beneficial.
• Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within a team or organisation.
• Experience of auditing quality ISO9001 management systems.
• An excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques, and be able to provide guidance to others in their use (e.g., Pareto, FMEA, 5 why's, 8D, etc.)
• Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and able to give examples of how you have used them in previous situations.

Please note that this position is subject to national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence ITAR security requirements for this role (this will include obtaining SC level of security clearance).
