Premises Manager
Location - Near West Byfleet, Surrey (excellent transport links)
Contract type – Full-time, permanent with 28 days’ paid holiday
Hours –36 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Salary - Payscale LPT8, FTE £37,831 - £40,854 per annum, depending on skills and experience
We are looking to appoint a skilled and highly motivated Premises Manager to lead the premises team at Fullbrook School in delivering an excellent site management service. Working collaboratively with the School Business Manager, the Premises Manager’s key areas of responsibility are:
• Health & Safety compliance and safeguarding
• Site maintenance
• Management of capital projects
• Cost effectiveness and contract management support
The successful candidate will:
• have experience in areas of building maintenance, compliance and managing building projects
• have experience of working in a school or similar setting
• be flexible and pro-active in meeting the needs of the school
• demonstrate a calm and practical approach to problem solving
• have excellent communication and organisational skills
• be able to lead a team of premises staff

You will be in charge of the finances for your school's kitchen as well as every aspect of the food and beverage operations as the Sodexo Cook Manager in Croydon, Staines and Surrey areas. It will be your duty to make sure that the catering provided by the school is among the best in the area and that the food and service meet the highest standards. Being the person your team looks to for guidance and support on a daily basis, your attitude will have an impact on their life and create a lively and effective work atmosphere. What you do:

• Manage the replenishment of food and the dismantling of work areas at the end of service.
• Develop, mentor, conduct training, and inspire the kitchen team.
• Control the complete catering operation, including labour, food, and stock expenses.
• Manage and optimise all costs that are under your control.
• Ensure uniformity in the food and service standards provided to fellow staff members, visitors and students.
• Manage the creation and development of menus.
• Conduct routine audits to ensure standards are being followed.

What you bring:

• Full UK Driving Licence required for this position and own vehicle required for this role as travel to a different site each day may be required.
• Must have expertise on cooking on a large scale, anywhere between 100 – 1300 students.
• Have experience following recipes, possibly in a similar setting.
• Have previous staff supervision experience or line management experience.
• Have experience working with fresh produce and ingredients.
• Be aware of the importance of adhering to health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy Kitchen environment.
• Be professional, leading by example and having a positive outlook is key.
• Hold basic food handling skills certification:
  • NVQ Level 2
  • Level 2 Food safety Certificate
  • A minimum of 1 years of experience in hands on cooking, training on Food Hygiene, and Health & Safety will be given.

This role combines hands-on business management with the opportunity to deliver vocational training in a real-world setting. Open 52 weeks a year, our café offers ongoing services even during school holidays, presenting an opportunity for paid student employment during these periods.
