We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated service manager to join our busy Surgery, Perioperative Medicine and Adult Critical Care team. You will support this award-winning team to effectively manage patient flow, admin and clerical teams, service improvement projects, and financial performance.

As part of Team Surgery, you will work closely as part of a triumvirate to deliver high quality, efficient and forward thinking services across The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals. You will be part of a team that is responsible for Scheduling, Theatres, Critical Care, Anaesthetics, Pain, and Elective Care.

You will be operationally responsible for managing our adult theatres complex, supporting the daily patient flow of patients through our elective care footprint. The Associate Deputy DDO is a key management role and is responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of the service areas. Key aims are:

• To co-ordinate the operational delivery of services within the portfolio of responsibility to ensure the safe and effective use of all resources. Specifically, to take a lead in achieving key performance targets in line with local and national agreements.

• In partnership with the Clinical Directors, Service Group leads, and Deputy DDO take operational management responsibility - with the specialty Lead Clinicians, Nurses, Operational Managers within the Peri op and Critical Care Directorate for the delivery of the Division’s financial and operational priorities.

• Provide timely, efficient and effective operational service management support for the specialties of Theatres, Scheduling, 3D and Day Surgery.

As the Peripatetic Nurse Manager your key responsibilities include:
• Supporting 2 divisions and maintain regional contact for each Care home
• Conducting routine Head Office visits across care homes as directed by Divisional Directors
• Ensuring that a stimulated and caring environment is always maintained
• Overseeing and ensuring the effective delivery of the medicine administration process in line with the company care management of medicines policy
• Ensuring that attendance to both mandatory and required training courses, including that of staff members within a home, is met in order that skills, knowledge, and competency levels are maintained to carry out the role efficiently and effectively
• Supporting the Home Manager to plan and facilitate regular staff meetings: staff supervision establishing an effective communication system, ensuring that staff members are kept up to date with all current necessary information
• Providing support and assistance to staff members and ensuring that areas of responsibility are maintained and to delegate duties to staff as appropriate, ensuring implementation

The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:
• Previous experience of working with a large multi-site Care Provider within a capacity of a high-Level Manager
• Excellent knowledge of the CQC standards
• Working knowledge of Legislation and the Regulatory Framework underpinning practice in relation to the care of older people
• Flexible and willing to travel and work a variety of shifts, including the occasional weekend shifts

Main Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Bid Director, you as the Private Works Manager will be leading the Private / Developer works department, pursuing and delivering works for Private sector clients from Site Projects, S278 works, Hard Landscaping to Public Realm type works within the London Markets, the latter being highly desirable.

This role of Private Works Manager has 3 key elements that you will be intricately involved with; and have experience within:

Business Development

• Identify and develop new business opportunities, Build relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors, partners, and vendors whilst continuously evaluating existing partnerships with an eye toward building on what works and changing what doesn’t
• Manage key client relationships and works to build new ones by expanding the profile and reach of the company and its brand. Identifies and recommends new markets and propose and develop strategic partnerships

Estimating

• Analysing tender enquiry documents and Assisting the Bid team with pricing, including building up SOR items from first principals and Drafting BOQ from spec and drawings where necessary to secure Subcontractor enquiries/pricing
• Strong knowledge of Highways Method of Measurement whilst working with our Operational team members for delivery solutions

Commercial

• Ensure governance and contract/legal review processes are followed for all projects.
• Oversee the measurement and preparation of valuations to maximise financial returns under the provisions of the contract conditions and company procedures. You will have overall responsibility for the commercial systems, processes and applications for the department.
• Lend contractual expertise to commercial and operational colleagues at contract level and own/oversee monthly / annual cost and value reconciliations, budgets and forecasts
• Actively build relationship with customers to secure payments within the specified contract terms and manage overall working in progress, debt and stock. Close management of procurement and sub-contractor accounts.

In this role you will be in liaison with stakeholders across the business’s of JB Riney, Tarmac and CRH – Contracts Directors – Finance Director – Senior Estimator and QS’s teams – Commercial Teams – Project Manager – Agents – Operational Supervisors

You must be able to travel across the region of work

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role of Private Works Manager, you as the ideal candidate will have experience of a similar position within a comparable sector. You will have a background to support our vision of success coupled with a strong understanding of the systems and processes required to measure and benchmark successes. You will have a strong background coupled with commercial and managerial experience with demonstrable success leading and developing your teams.

Specific Requirements:

• ESSENTIAL – Relevant Degree or Largely qualified by experience relating to industry standards and/or possess good Higher Education Achievement (HND/HNC Level) – would be considered
• ESSENTIAL - Minimum of 5 years’ experience in 2 of the 3 key role requirements – Business Development, Estimating and/or Commercial
• Management Qualification – NVQ 5 / ILM / NEBS
• Extensive experience using Microsoft, Excel, Project, Causeway and PowerPoint packages as a minimum
