Troubleshooting when required. Undertake and interpret blood gas analysis. Undertake and interpret Thromboelastopgraphy Testing including Platelet Mapping and Fibrinogen Analysis where necessary. To set up and operate the relevant monitoring and safety devices. Prepare and operate equipment and disposables to perform vacuum assisted venous drainage. Prepare and operate equipment and disposables to perform carbon dioxide flushing of the operative field. Modify the extra corporeal circuit in order to facilitate haemoconcentration and modified ultra-filtration. Disassembly and disposal of all used consumable equipment in accordance with Trust and departmental guidelines. Observe recognised surgical standards of aseptic technique at all appropriate times. Maintain, clean and calibrate equipment, keeping relevant departmental records. Assist in the development and subsequent assessment of appropriate evaluation techniques for new equipment and techniques. Lead research and development projects, assisting in their initiation and control. Ensure there are adequate stock levels in all clinical areas, ordering additional stock when required. Conduct informal in-service and external formal educational and training sessions with other Perfusionists, nursing and medical staff, when required. Complete accurately the relevant departmental and clinical records, providing any statistical and administrative information as required

Your new role
