Job Summary

The Sr. Director, Talent Consulting Services will be responsible for leading a pool of consultants to be deployed across various projects both aligned to business units or for special projects for the entire enterprise.

The role will provide planning, assessment of individual readiness, deployment preparation, coaching, strong performance management, specialist knowledge in HR or related fields.  The Senior Director will be able to effectively work in a changing and an agile environment and be an exceptional people leader who builds trust easily, people confide in, and is influential in providing a strong environment to the consultants in the pool.

This requires someone who is business savvy and accountable for all aspects of performance management and can also provide strong program management using phase gates to measure the deployment of resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a pool of consultants with diverse skills and backgrounds to deliver high-quality results for various projects and initiatives

• Assess the individual readiness of consultants and provide them with the necessary training, coaching, feedback, and support to ensure their success and satisfaction

• Ensure the consultants are prepared and equipped with the relevant tools, resources, and information to enable them to perform their roles effectively and efficiently while planning and deploying to different projects based on their readiness, skills, availability, and preference

• Manage the performance management process for the consultants, including setting goals, conducting appraisals, identifying development needs, providing regular and constructive feedback and recognition, and addressing performance issues

• Provide specialist knowledge and expertise in HR or related fields to the consultants and the project teams to guide and establish best practices

• Coach the team for development and build technical skills, ensuring they have the competencies and capabilities to meet current and future business needs

• Act as a change agent and a role model for the consultants and the organization, demonstrating agility, resilience, and adaptability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in HR, Business, Management, Change Management, or a related field

• At least 15 years of experience in HR, consulting, project management, or a similar role, with at least 3 years of experience in a leadership position

• Proven track record of leading and managing teams of consultants or professionals in a complex and dynamic environment

• Strong knowledge and skills in HR or related fields, such as talent management, organizational development, change management, learning and development, etc.

• Excellent program management, planning, and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

• Exceptional people leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop others

What you’ll be doing

The Senior Director, Head of Fixed Income Market Risk has the mandate to lead the groups responsible for the ‘second line of defense’ governing the following areas of oversight: Global Fixed Income Trading Risk, Interest Rate Derivatives, Bond Trading, Money Markets, and Structured Rates Trading. Additionally, the Senior Director, Head of Fixed Income Market Risk also has the mandate to mentor the Capital Markets Risk Management (CMRM) Reporting and Analytics team, which covers portfolio based reporting and analytical insights for the broader Capital Markets trading businesses.

You will actively partner with Capital Markets trading desks, other CMRM Risk colleagues, core strategic business units (SBUs) and other infrastructure groups to produce key reports and metrics for senior leadership and regulators to measure and validate CIBC’s trading book risks – including regulatory measures such as VaR/ES, Stress Testing and Capital, as well as non-regulatory measures such as scenario analysis, global portfolio analysis and profit and loss (P&L) attribution. You will among other duties, participate and co-ordinate the risk management governance of daily market risk limits, new trade analysis, assessment of backtesting results, have signoff for new products, attest to CDOR submission oversight, and ensure adherence to monthly and quarterly controls around regulatory risk measures.

What you’ll be doing

As Director, Investor Relations & Performance Measurement, you will be accountable for providing value-add financial and strategic analysis to support IR and Performance Measurement activities. The role requires financial analysis and modelling skills and an understanding of capital markets. The incumbent will join the Capital Markets Business Management Team, with a focus on supporting the Simplii business within Direct Financial Services Lines. As the Simplii Business Manager, you will act as a liaison between the businesses and the relevant stakeholders & infrastructure partners, to ensure all governance and controls functions are fulfilled. The incumbent will also be assist in business, regulatory and compliance initiatives as requested.

Reporting to the AVP, Global Privacy, this role plays a pivotal role as they are responsible for leading and implementing a comprehensive privacy governance program.  The Senior Director, Global Privacy Program Governance & Strategic Initiatives is responsible for overseeing the privacy framework as well as policies, standards and procedure documents in addition to global privacy risk management reporting. You will lead, coordinate and implement regulatory change management requirements for the Global Privacy Program and trigger any global program updates as required. Who you are

• You are certified- CPA designation or a Bachelor of Law degree with a minimum of 7 or more years of tax experience. Completed levels I and II of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or a Masters of Taxation.
• You have comprehensive knowledge of Canadian taxation - Experience with Canadian domestic & international taxation matters impacting products/business offerings and/or experience managing foreign tax advice across multiple jurisdictions.

What You’ll Be Doing

Capital Markets and Direct Financial Services provides integrated services and products aimed at serving investors as well as corporate and institutional clients globally. The Capital Markets business is a recognized leader in the industry specializing in investment banking advisory services, corporate lending and research. In addition, the Direct Financial Services arm provides alternate services and solutions such  as direct investing, direct banking and unique international payment solutions. The successful applicant will provide Business Management support to Global Markets and Direct Financial Services (GM & DFS). The role will act as a liaison between the businesses (front office) and the rest of the Bank to ensure all business strategies, initiatives, projects, operational issues are addressed and resolved. The role will work and support the Head of GM & DFS.

The incumbent will be the primary individual responsible for Business Management functions across the Global Markets & DFS business. The incumbent will have a number of direct reports that will be responsible for business management support across their respective portfolios. The incumbent will be responsible for working with and supporting the priorities of the Head of Global Markets and DFS.  Business Management liaises with the businesses (front office) and across CIBC to ensure all business strategies & initiatives, projects, and regulatory & compliance issues, are addressed and resolved. Oversee governance and compliance functions/issues on behalf of the GM & DFS business, including - Ensure compliance with Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs) with respect to new initiatives; Support execution of new contracts and agreements with vendors and partners in collaboration with Corporate Services, Legal, and other internal stakeholders; Accountable to ensure the completion of all GM & DFS governance functions –User System Access, Contract Review, etc.; Oversight of the Business Continuity Management plans and milestones as Accountable Officer for GM & DFS; Support GM & DFS business management team, front office and internal partners in the implementation of new compliance and governance requirements; Management, oversight of audits and related follow-up items including coordinating and responding to auditor/regulator requests, findings and reports; Working with Capital Markets Governance & Control teams to ensure suitable and effective controls are in place and help manage and support the coordination of the deficiency management process across GM & DFS;

• Finance/MIS - Work with business, Business Managers and/or Finance Business Support to develop. Management and Board Presentations; Quarterly Operational Risk Dashboard and analysis; and other presentations.

• Cross-Functional Relationships - Strong interpersonal and communication skills allowing the incumbent to work alongside the business, including Head of GM & DFS, on a day-to-day basis; Establish and maintain effective relationships with partners in CIBC, including, Operations, Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Legal and Compliance and other corporate governance groups as required to help address and resolve day-to-day issues as well as deliver on business initiatives; and Maintain regular dialogue with regional business managers and their teams as required on global initiatives and issues.

Who You Are

• You possess knowledge of Financial Products (products and processes) with a minimum of 10 years of working experience in the Financial Services industry is an asset;

• You have university degree in Business Management/Accounting Designation. CA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent, is preferred;

• You have strong problem solving, analytical, judgment and change implementation capabilities;

• You have the ability to establish and build healthy working relationships and partnerships with the business, as well as peers, and wide variety of stakeholders (Finance, Middle Office, Risk Management, Technology, etc.);

  • Directly oversee or execute on complex, critical, or other high-profile transactions
  • Directly oversee or execute portfolio wide agreements with Strategic Landlords, as and when required.

  • Partner with client’s ERE Team and Senior level operational groups to identify real estate needs and areas of opportunity
  • Oversee implementation of portfolio plans with client real estate goals and objectives in mind  
  • Support the development of strategic plans and provide strategic real estate advice to client 
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and strategies 
  • Support the development and implementation of the NBO Strategy
  • Produce and/or support business case development 

• Transaction Management:
  • Responsible for transaction management team and service delivery
  • Execute complex large transactions
  • Determine client’s needs and communicate project parameters 
  • Oversee negotiations and management of transactions
  • Oversee the team responsible for the legal review of all client transaction related documents 
  • Ensure accuracy of financial data and reporting 
  • Oversee budgeting and revenue tracking of all transactions
  • Assist with the development and implementation of performance measurements
  • Accountable for accuracy of client’s portfolio data in technology systems (with C&W’s scope of work)
  • Provide written and oral reporting of critical lease action items
  • Ensure accuracy of critical lease action date reporting

• Process Management:
  • Support the development of standard forms and procedures
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Assist with the development of technology solutions to optimize transaction efficiency.
  • Implement standardized processes that create maximum efficiencies
  • Monitor and report on performance measurements for internal benchmarking
  • Assist with fine tuning of existing, and development of new / meaningful KPI’s
  • Identify industry data for external benchmarking; assist with benchmarking of client against other similar industry clients.

Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required (finance/real estate preferred)
• Real Estate License required
• 10+ years of multiple Real Estate discipline experience; experience on both Landlord and Occupier side preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a cohesive, performance measured environment
• Strong financial services background, including Retail experience in Canada required
• Experience Managing Large Global / Canadian Real Estate Transaction Management Portfolios
• Experience managing, reviewing, and approving a large volume of transactions
• Experience managing multiple internal and external stakeholder relationships
• Demonstrated leadership, self-management, and problem resolution skills
• Proven record of providing exceptional internal and external customer service
• Excellent relationship building skills at multiple management levels
• Strong oral and written communication skills

What you’ll be doing

As part of Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering (EAML) group, the Senior Director, AML Business Effectiveness, oversees the end-to-end design, implementation, and ongoing sustainment of the Transaction Monitoring and screening strategies and programs applicable to lines of business in Canada, based on the risk and typologies defined by EAML. As the Senior Director, AML Business Effectiveness, you will be responsible for the effectiveness of the methods to monitor client transactions and screen clients and transactions against various watchlists (i.e., Sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs). You will be a key member of the EAML Leadership team and active contributor to EAML’s overall vision and strategy, the Senior Director will ensure CIBC effectively mitigates the ML/TF/Sanctions risks, regularly connects with Senior Director, VP and SVP level peers in the delivering of this mandate to shape the Transaction Monitoring and Screening strategies. You will lead the business for how clients and transactions will be monitored and screened, and ensure appropriate reporting on ongoing effectiveness to senior management. The Senior Director is accountable for providing leadership, direction and coaching to the AML Business Effectiveness team and the broader Enterprise AML team.

How you’ll succeed

• Provide AML, ATF, and Screening Guidance – Provide subject matter expertise on strategies for Money Laundering/Terrorist Financing transaction monitoring and screening of clients and transactions against watchlists. Stay abreast of emerging risks in the ML/Terrorist Financing/Sanctions industry risks, particularly as it relates to CIBCs portfolio composition and clients. Liaise with industry professionals, associations, and regulators to establish best practices for AML/ATF/Sanctions strategies across lines of business.

• Develop Strategic Direction – Develop the strategic direction for the AML transaction monitoring and screening methods and systems, including rules development, model ownership, analytics, and rules effectiveness. Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of all AML transaction monitoring and screening strategies to mitigate ML/TF/Sanctions risks in conjunction with the broader AML group. Responsible for the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the AML transaction monitoring and screening systems, continuously improving the bank’s ability to monitor ML/TF/Sanctions risks in alignment with regulatory requirements.

• Lead Technological Improvements Initiatives – Investigate, develop and implement leading-edge analytical tools, and technologies to improve the AML transaction monitoring and screening systems. Lead research and investigation into new analytical tools and techniques to improve ML/TF/Sanctions risk monitoring and/or reporting frameworks. Oversee the analysis of internal and external information/reports to identify trends, issues, and AML best practices to quantify impacts to CIBC, and recommend strategies to mitigate any emerging risks.

• People Leadership – Provide leadership and effective management of business unit staff to influence employee commitment to the organization, to the team, and to their job.

• Relationship Management – Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external partners. Act as a lead representative for all initiatives and AML regulatory discussions as it relates to the AML transaction monitoring and screening rules and systems. Builds a network of relationships with peer banks, government agencies, and industry experts to perform benchmarking analysis. Participates with and/or represent EAML in discussions and regulatory and audit meetings.

Who you are

• You can demonstrate experience. 10+ years’ experience interpreting and implementing regulatory regimes, related to AML and/or ATF.  Experience providing advisory on compliance and risk management solutions for Capital Markets AML transaction monitoring, FINTRAC reporting, and name screening.  You have 5+ years of people leadership experience managing large teams.

• You can demonstrate knowledge. Of AML/ATF laws, regulations and industry practices in Canada including regulatory reporting to FINTRAC, name screening, and AML transaction monitoring of Retail, Commercial, Wealth, Capital Markets and correspondent banking businesses, products, services, and their related ML/TF risks. 

• You have a degree. In business, law or accounting and/or a related field.
