This is an exciting opportunity for either a newly (or soon to be) qualified band 7 psychological therapist looking for a post with career progression or for an established band 8a psychological therapist to work in the London Women’s Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR) Service. This is a London pathways Partnership (LPP) service, led by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with CNWL NHS Foundation Trust and Together for Mental Wellbeing.

MHTRs aim to reduce custodial sentences, improve wellbeing and address mental health needs associated with offending. MHTRs were introduced by the Criminal Justice Act in 2003, recognising that for many individuals who offend, mental health and substance misuse issues underpin their offending behaviour. This service aims to increase the use of MHTRs as part of a community sentence. The London Women’s MHTR Service provides a primary-care level service and is also one of three pilot secondary care sites, testing pathways into secondary care services for individuals. The successful individual will have the opportunity to work across both services.

We are recruiting to two posts, in conjunction with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, who are also advertising for this role.

The post-holder will work according to national MHTR guidance, and local procedures.

The role will include:
• Assessment of women prior to sentencing to consider suitability for an MHTR
• Holding a caseload and providing short-term psychological interventions for those that are sentenced to an MHTR
• Liaison with stakeholders including probation colleagues, court staff and secondary care mental health services
• Supervision of prequalified staff including trainees and assistant psychologists, and supervision of qualified staff dependent on experience
• Involvement in service research, audits and development

Applications are encouraged from existing, newly qualified, or soon-to-qualify, psychological therapists who could progress from Band 7 preceptorship to Band 8a in this post.

Management responsibilitiesTo manage own workload when providing medicines management services. ClinicalTo provide weekly clinical visits to the allocated prison(s), under the professional supervision of a pharmacist. On these visits the post-holder will:a) undertake a stock top-up service for all areas in which medicines are stored.b) review the expiry dates and storage facilities for all such medicines and report any deficiencies to the prison service pharmacist for that prison.c) assist the prison service pharmacist to provide advice to prisoners and staff about the appropriate use of medicines.d) undertake 3-monthly controlled drugs stock checks and report any issues to the prison service pharmacist for that prison. Housing Options officer required - must be experienced in homeless prevention work, tasks, and law - minimum 2 years' experience required, 3 day per week in the office.

Purpose of Job:

• To actively support the prevention of homelessness by providing a comprehensive housing options and advice service.
• In addition to this, fulfilling the statutory obligations in respect of homelessness and access to housing solutions and work with, partner organizations.
• Under the guidance of the Housing Needs Team Lead, the post-holder will be responsible for undertaking timely and appropriate assessments of applicants seeking support, from the Local Authority.

Main Accountabilities:

• To consider and assess homelessness applications in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 Part 7 as amended by the Homeless Reduction Act 2017.
• To investigate, assess, assist, advise and determine customers housing options, providing the Council's statutory obligations in relation to housing advice and homeless services including the s184 notifications and direct communication via phone, email or in person, with members of the public seeking support or advice.
• To ensure that the Council complies with its statutory duties in providing the above, with particular reference to the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and Parts VI and VII, the Housing Act, taking into account, the relevant codes of guidance, case law and agreed legislative and service standards.
• To actively work with clients to prevent their homelessness.
• By assisting them to retain their existing accommodation or secure alternative housing when all other housing options or solutions are exhausted.
• To actively pursue further housing options by referring to the Private Rented Sector team and supported housing accommodation providers as appropriate.

About the role:

As a Caseworker, you will play a vital role in providing high quality, end-to-end support to victims of crime to cope and recover. You will be responsible for establishing contact with victims to assess the impact of crime and providing appropriate information and support. As the needs and experiences of our clients are wide-ranging, the support you will provide will range from brief interventions over the telephone to longer term 1:1 and telephone based support.

You will be working 7.5 Hours a day between 8am-8pm, as part of a rota covering Monday to Friday and the occasional Saturday.

You will need:

You will have the skills to provide effective crisis intervention, carry out risk assessments, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. You should have demonstrable experience of working in a similar setting or position. An ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload is essential.
