Specialty Doctor in Healthy Ageing Service
10 Sessions per week


Applications are invited to join The Healthy Ageing Service (HAS) and be part of a multidisciplinary team with Medical Staff, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Mental Health Practitioners, non-medical prescribers, Care Home Liaison Practitioner, Health Care Assistants, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapist and administrative staff.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, energetic and passionate about delivering high quality care to patients suffering with mental health problems. They should have experience of team working, possess sound organisation skills and be able to work on their own initiative. Effective communication and empathic skills are essential.

The post-holder will be part of a medical team consisting of a Consultant Psychiatrist and a Trainee Doctor. The position requires full GMC registration and we are looking for a candidate with experience in general adult psychiatry. Please note that active driving licence and access to a car is a necessary requirement for this role.
Interviews are scheduled to take place during week commencing 9th December 2024
• Initial assessment, investigation and management of patients for their mental health issues
• Follow up of patients to monitor the progress
• Comprehensive review of notes, making detailed and accurate but concise summaries of very complex mental health histories
• Initiating Psychotropic medications and titrating whilst monitoring for side effects and physical parameters
• Liaison with other teams, or other medical specialties to determine better treatment outcome
• Comprehensive electronic documentation of sufficient standard and good communication with primary care services, other secondary mental health services and medical specialties
• Carry out domiciliary visits with colleagues
• Attend in-patient unit TOPAS to support with in-patient elderly care as required.

ABOUT THE FRONT OF HOUSE HOST ROLE:Within your role as Front of House Host, you can really make a difference to our residents’ lives. Some of your responsibilities will include:

Serving residents their meals, snacks & beverages
Replenish all snack stations
Clean up after all meals
Re-lay tables & cloths
Cleaning the dining/kitchen areas

Movement of DeceasedMovement of deceased patients from clinical areas to the mortuary using clinical manual handling as necessary, duties include registration of details into Mortuary book and placement of deceased in relevant area within the mortuary facility. Specimen CollectionCollect pathology specimens, containers and units of blood as and when required in accordance with safe handling procedures. Laundry and Rubbish dutiesProvide a laundry and rubbish service, using specialised equipment in line with the Trusts Waste Policy and Infection, Prevention and Control Manual. Gas Cylinder ReplacementTo replenish gas supply where required and to check the cylinder/regulators for leaks in accordance with defined procedures. Report all faults relating to medical gas cylinders/regulators in compliance with approved processes. Fire alarm activationsRespond to fire alarm activations in accordance with the Trust procedures and to offer assistance during the incident, to ensure safety of staff, visitors and patients. Cardiac Arrests & Major IncidentsRespond to calls of cardiac arrests and major incident to provide assistance to the medical staff, this may include, collection of equipment, specimen delivery and cordoning off of the area from public view.Show reasonable judgement during emergency situations, i.e. Fire alarms and Major Incidents. Helipad DutiesTo carry out helipad duties as and when required. Other tasks and responsibilities Assist with other Hotel services functions with similar responsibilities. Support Team Assistant

Department: Support Services

Band 2 £23,615 per annum

Hours: 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

Full time, including weekends, AM, PM & Night shifts.
2 X 37.5 hours

Rates of pay:

Monday till Friday £12.08p/h
Saturday and Sunday - hourly rate plus enhancements

To safely move patients between departments as required by clinical service teams.

To physically move Medical equipment in a safe and compliant manner.

Patient Movement
