As the supervisor, the incumbent assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives, as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating, and overseeing the Social Work staff and non-Social Work staff assigned to the Social Work Service at the Viera Outpatient Clinic. The incumbent will ensure that Social Work and non-Social Work staff are aware of, and adhere to, all current directives of VHA, and meet current Joint Commission standards, State licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations. The incumbent conducts ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies. Some of the duties include, but are not limited to;
- Supervises a group of employees performing work at the GS-0185-13 levels and below, advanced practice Social Workers, and non-Social Work Peer Support staff.
- Provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the service and various program areas.
- Responsible for monitoring compliance with Social Work Practice standards and guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice, and service delivery.
- Responsible for the oversight of all Social Work Services provided in the clinic and non-Social Work programs that fall under incumbent's supervision.
- Performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised.
- Has established guidelines and performance expectations for staff, clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system.
- Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions, as necessary. The supervisor provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters.
- Supervises employees to accomplish the work of the organizational unit, exercising supervisory authority and responsibility involving work assignment and review, as well as the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised.
- As a field instructor or preceptor, supervises Social Work graduate students and provides a training experience for them in Social Work.
- Performs a wide range of services and provides technical assistance to State, local, and private agencies, and universities.
- Performs program analysis, development, review, research, design, and contact work as possible with various agencies (public, DOD, state, etc.).
- May have clinical responsibilities in addition to supervisory responsibilities as needed by the organization.
- Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of, Smoking Cessation classes, Suicide Prevention activities, and Primary Care team needs.
- Possesses knowledge and ability to implement Evidenced Based treatment modalities, provide individual group or family psychotherapy, supportive contact and psychosocial education to Veterans and families.
- Participate and assist with coordination of coverage for social work services on the assigned unit/service, and when needed for other programs or teams both inpatient and outpatient as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: The primary tour of duty will be M-F 8am to 4:30pm. However, the selectee may also be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis, based on the needs of the service and patient care.
