Facilitate and lead on Infection Prevention and Control yearly audit and surveillance programme. Undertake Infection Prevention and Control audits, providing initial feedback at the time of audit. Ensuring audits are completed within a specified timeframe. Using specialist knowledge, analyse and interpret trend and variations in infection prevention, cancer care and their indicators and outcomes, supporting planning and evaluation of cancer management guidelines and protocols. The post holder will act as a lead specialist in designing and setting up databases based on the IPC teams requirements.Develop and maintain high quality and highly sensitive information management systems. Demonstrates enhanced data extraction skills in order to correctly reflect/interpret information required. Produce comprehensive and complex reports to Divisions and the Infection Prevention Control Committee on audit work undertaken and the planned programmes of work recorded in the IPC Board Assurance Framework ensuring compliance to the Health and Social Care Act (2012). Maintain and support audit databases including MEG, UKHS DCS and IPC element within DHR, notably Bugsy. Must be able to establish any causes for concern and escalate these appropriately.

As well as the general responsibilities noted above, the postholder will Chair the Audit Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to independently and objectively: Review the integrity of the Trusts financial statements. Oversee compliance with corporate governance standards and assurance processes across clinical and non-clinical activities. Assist the Board of Directors in its oversight of risk management and the effectiveness of internal control Trust-wide Oversee external and internal audit functions and the local counter fraud service, receiving assurance of their independence. This Committee is responsible for: Integrated governance Internal audit External audit Financial reporting Risk management and internal control Counter fraud and security management Other assurance functions The postholder will also be required to: Bring independent financial acumen to the work of the Audit Committee across its governance, risk management, assurance and internal control functions. Escalate any areas to the Trust Board within the Committees responsibilities that have inadequate assurance or require further mitigation's. Recommend the Annual Report, Accounts and Annual Governance Statement on behalf of the Committee for Trust Board sign off, once content that the documents present a fair and accurate view. Work effectively with internal and external auditors and counter fraud specialists to ensure comprehensive oversight of the Trusts financial activity. Be satisfied that financial information is accurate and that financial controls and risk management systems are robust.

1. To produce agendas and take minutes for monthly Hospital Transfusion Team meetings and quarterly Trust Transfusion Committee meetings. To present blood component traceability data at these meetings. These meetings occur on Monday mornings. 2. To provide audit support with data collection/entry for local, regional, and national audits undertaken by the transfusion team. 3. Design and develop databases / spread sheets to be used to collect clinical and non-clinical data for audit, using the appropriate software and pulling reports. 4. Extract and input clinical and non-clinical data from a variety of sources into databases / spread sheets. 5. Assist with preparation of clinical audit records / patient or staff questionnaires / audit proformas and reports 6. To maintain the database for blood component traceability producing regular data for the transfusion practitioner and blood transfusion department. 7. Support the Transfusion Practitioner with a wide range of duties including filing, photocopying, preparing and mailing correspondence, answering telephones and bleeps. 8. Maintain the training and competency database for transfusion related competencies and for the electronic blood tracking project. 9. To assist with teaching staff how to use the Sample 360 electronic sample labelling system for transfusion blood samples. 10. information from computerised patient information systems such as the electronic patient record (Careflow) and Pathology Systems. 11. Maintain confidentiality in matters concerning patient details and results. 12. Visit clinical areas as necessary to gather audit data and deliver patient transfusion leaflets 13.
