Application Support Engineer

IT is at the heart of many of the vital services that Serco provides, from caring for vulnerable people, managing complex public services, to heavy rail and hospital operations. As our Application Support Engineer, you’ll ensure that we continue to deliver innovative solutions for our customers.
As Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting a number of applications including Aptem application platform, Office 365 Power Apps, part of Serco’s Enterprise Skills Employment portfolio. The Aptem application is used to support UK jobseekers in furthering education and finding employment. You'll work with Local Government Partnerships Applications teams across Lincoln and Hertford in supporting applications that are used by the Local Authorities. Other duties include:
- Monitoring of ServiceNow (ITSM) stack for customers, ensuring SLA`s are met.
- Management of support queries with 3rd party supplier, monitoring progress, chasing and ensuring responses are received and communicated back to the customer.
- Arranging and carrying out software upgrades including some out of hours work. Creation of test plans and co-ordination of software upgrades.
- Bespoke configuration and development work as required by the customer
- Contribute to procedures and manuals for the Apps Support Team.
- Proactive demand-management activities, eliminating / reducing demand wherever feasible, to ensure continued efficiency.
Flexible home working options are available, there may be some travel for meetings as required.
What you'll need to do the role:
If you are already an experienced professional with demonstrable experience working in a similar IT supporting role within a fast-paced IT environment, then we want to hear from you. Experience with Aptem is particularly desirable, however training can be given. You should have strong knowledge and experience in Office 365 Power Applications, Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps. We are a small team working in quick paced environment, there is a lot of work to do, whilst the work can be pressurised, we connect often with regular catch ups and ensure that our approach is relaxed, light-hearted and enjoyable!
