The Estates department at Furness General Hospital is a group of highly skilled electrical, mechanical, and plumbing engineers, creative building craftpersons, and dedicated support staff.

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Engineering Manager - Mechanical to join us.

You should be experienced, time served, and suitably qualified in mechanical engineering maintenance, fault finding, and repairs. Ideally you will have trained to NVQ Level 4/HNC level or above.

You should be proficient in all aspects of mechanical plant and equipment on an industrial scale. Healthcare experience would be advantageous but not essential - as full training will be given.

Flexible working and the ability to participate in an on-call rota is required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical infrastructure at Furness General Hospital and Millom Hospital. This includes taking on the role of Lead Mechanical AP (Authorised Person), Lead Ventilation AP, Lead Water Safety AP, and managing a team of deputy AP's.

The role involves managing internal and external labour ensuring their compliance with HTM and H&S regulations.

To manage all mechanical aspects of property maintenance for trust properties and other organisation’s properties on behalf of the Trust.

To supervise and carry out line manager duties for Estates Officers.

To participate in the training of junior management staff to ensure they receive work experience, upskilling, and competency based task training.

To efficiently manage a departmental budget and labour management system for your discipline and deputise for other Estates managers as required.

To assist, and deputise for, the Estates Manager as required.

To carry out Estates surveys, Estates returns, manage minor project and capital works, and assist in the monitoring of energy usage.

You should be fully IT literate, an excellent communicator, verbally and in the written word, and be able to identify, manage, and communicate risk to senior management including members of the trust board.


We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Leader to support Operations in the Louisiana area.  This role is primarily based at Plaquemine, LA with being about 20% present at other sites in LA.

As the Senior Environmental Leader, you will lead the implementation of the environmental management system in across Louisiana, in order to ensure that the business and site goals and objectives are met and that the license to operate is maintained. You provide environmental leveraged support across the state encompassing operations in Plaquemine, St. Charles, Grand Bayou, and Greensburg and responsibility for a large scope of Dow assets and employees. Provide people leadership to the Louisiana environmental leveraged resources.  Develop plans of execution to ensure alignment with operational long-term strategy. As a leader, you foster a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong customer and environmental focus that embraces inclusion and diversity, innovation and sustainability, continuous improvement, and empowerment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate, leverage, and ensure connectivity with EH&S Sustainability/Business Services/Environmental Expertise/Regulatory Affairs in order to ensure seamless support of all Environmental performance improvement and license to operate activities which include permit modification/renewals, compliance/Sustainability reporting, Agency Inspections and new/modified regulations.
• Identify regional opportunities and facilitate the process to leverage Environmental resources across the sites as needed.
• Coach other EH&S team members to determine specific Environmental needs that can be optimized by leveraging across the region.
• Develop and maintain a continuous improvement culture, implementing global initiatives and regional specific projects through the regional group to achieve results.
• Develop cost-effective implementation of Environmental systems through effectively leveraging of resources, standard work processes, common systems, learnings and sponsoring improvement and compliance projects across the region.
• Own and implement the regional Environmental people work processes, tools and procedures and ensures execution to attain and maintain and effective Environmental organizational support structure.
• Develop a supporting network in which the regional Environmental team can train, coach, and develop operational resources.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree OR relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience (i.e., engineering, manufacturing, or related experience).

About you and this role

As an IT Solution Manager, you will own a portfolio of solutions and systems (applications) and manage its lifecycle (including analysis, design, implementation/adoption, optimization, and end-of-life retirement of digital solutions), to deliver advanced functional and business capabilities. You will work hand-in-hand with a multi-disciplinary IT expert team (analysts, designers, developers, etc.) to deliver innovative digital solutions. In this role, you will orchestrate functional and technical requirements analysis, with an emphasis on experience, simplification, automation, efficiency, and reliability. You will be responsible for the oversight of the development, optimization, implementation, and adoption of solutions leveraging best-in-class mobile, web, desktop, and cloud technologies. In this role, you will own the cross-functional discussion surrounding the Finance order to cash area, which includes indirect tax, tax reporting, create invoice, rebate agreement, account receivable and intercompany operation.

• Maps user journeys, user experience, and user stories (user features) to facilitate employee experience (EX)/customer experience (CX) transformation
• Owns and drives the full solution lifecycle, including functional technical design – solution architecture, buy vs make decisions – and integration of third-party off-the-shelf software

• Coordinates with other managers for end-to-end process optimization and integration

Qualifications

What You’ll Do

Project Leadership: Take charge of planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget constraints. As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the site development projects.

Client Collaboration: Foster strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for project communication. Your ability to understand and address client needs will be crucial in ensuring project success.

Site Development: Oversee and manage site development projects, including coordinating with the construction project manager, expansions, and renovations, focusing on food, beverage, and consumer packaged goods manufacturing facilities.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all projects adhere to local, state, and federal regulations. Coordinate with regulatory agencies and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to secure permits and approvals.

Team Coordination: Lead a team of professionals, including engineers, designers, and support staff, to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient site development projects. Your leadership and project management skills will be essential in motivating and guiding the team to success.

Cost Management: Responsible for controlling project budgets, monitoring expenses, and ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in the project, creating strategies to mitigate them and maintain project timelines.

Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that project deliverables meet the highest standards and client expectations.

Report Generation: Prepare detailed project reports and documentation for clients and internal teams, conveying project progress, milestones, and any deviations from the plan.

Business Development: Contribute to the growth of Design Group by fostering existing client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional services, and participating in the preparation of proposals.

What You’ll Bring

• BS Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in site development and civil engineering within the manufacturing sector, with a strong focus on food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods facilities.
• Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering site development projects from initiation to completion.
• Excellent understanding of regulatory compliance and permitting processes at local, state, and federal levels.
• Experience in performing field facility condition assessments and reviewing hydraulic calculations and analyses.
• Experience reviewing construction documents using software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and Hydro CAD.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• A willingness to travel for project requirements, including installation and start-up activities, client meetings, and industry-related events.
