The Melanoma Clinical Nurse Specialist will support the delivery of melanoma research studies across the Trust as required. The Microbiology Department at Maidstone Hospital are looking for an experienced Advanced Specialist Microbiology Biomedical Scientist with an interest in Health and Safety to join the team. Experience of CL3 regulations is essential but study for qualifications will be available. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of health and safety within the department working in a small team with the Head BMS and the CL3 lead to deliver a safe working environment which conforms to all required regulations. The post involves development and maintenance of COSHH and Risk Assessments, production and delivery of training materials, monitoring and recording of relevant PPM records as well as remaining a central part of the microbiology BMS team taking responsibility on a rotational basis for a laboratory section. You will be an integral member of the senior MTW team as we work across Kent within the emerging Kent and Medway Pathology Network, shaping the future. The Specialty Doctor Surgeon will be required to undertake ward review and cover, assist in theatres and with the emergency on-call rota. He/she will be required to have a close relationship with all the wards, including the intensive care unit, the theatre and nursing staff and other professional and technical staff. Lord North ward is an 18 bedded haematology inpatient ward delivering excellent care to patients with haematological conditions and require treatment and support through their cancer journey. The ward works along side Chartwell Suite, Haematology day unit where patients receive chemotherapy and supportive therapies.

This post will be a rotational post between both units, working a combination of long days, nights and weekends.

Applicants should be highly motivated, enthusiastic and pro-active. The post holder will work as part of the nursing team in supporting the ward manager to run an effective and safe ward. Lord North and chartwell treat patients throughout their treatment pathway providing individualised, compassionate and informed care.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please emailmtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.netif this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check atEnhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)
