Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow position in the characterization of adaptive immunity against emerging highly pathogenic viruses, within the Infectious Diseases Translational Research Programme (ID TRP) at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The ID TRP is a 17-member programme comprising both basic scientists and clinician-scientists, enabling seamless translation of research. The programme has strong expertise in bacterial antibiotic resistance, multidrug resistance, and emerging viruses, covering areas such as epidemiology, molecular mechanisms, animal models, and therapeutic and prophylactic interventions. Other active areas of research include phage biology, pneumococcal infections, and microbiome studies. Appointments will initially be made on a yearly contract basis, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong passion for emerging viral diseases, who is eager to contribute to advancing our understanding of infectious disease threats in this region and to help strengthen preparations for future pandemics. As a Research Fellow (RF), you will play a pivotal role in the project, working closely with the Principal Investigator and the broader study team to ensure the project is completed on time and with high impact.

The primary responsibility of the RF will be to lead the project independently, while also collaborating closely with our regional study partners. We are looking for an experienced research scientist in biologics drug discovery to lead biologics projects and platform. The successful candidate will lead the planning and execution of drug discovery projects, coordinating among different scientific disciplines to implement strategic initiatives, monitor the progress of discovery projects and address any development bottleneck. The role also involves facilitating interactions with internal teams, external partners, and key stakeholders.

Project leadership:

• Lead 1-2 biologics project/platform, including scouting, nominating and driving the projects to meet key milestones
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align project resources and execution, proactive in proposing innovative solutions in the development of biologics therapeutics.
• Plan and execute complex research experiments on a need basis.
• Apply biologics technologies to enhance project innovation and efficiency.
• Partner with external academic and industry collaborations to advance new partnership opportunity.

Function innovation and continuous improvement:

• Active contribution to the function group by offering technical expertise in biologics drug discovery and development.
• Identify and evaluate new process improvement, technologies and approaches and effectively apply to project.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in in pharmaceutical sciences and related biomedical disciplines.
• A minimum of 5 years relevant postdoctoral or pharmaceutical industry experience with a strong focus on biologics drug discovery.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple parallel projects.
• Demonstrated capacity to conceptualise, strategise and execute research plans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to interpret and explain complex data.
• Self-motivated, fast learner with strong organization skills.
• Good interpersonal skills, team-orientated with strong collaborative spirit in building relationships internally and externally.

Job Description

A full-time Research Assistant position in the team led by Assistant Professor Chua Wei Ling is available at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, National University of Singapore. The selected candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator in the research domains of (i) nursing staffing and patient outcomes and (ii) post-sepsis syndrome.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to further experience in research with a view to a Master’s and/or PhD with the Principal Investigator.

Appointment will be made on a 12-month contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension, depending on project commitments and candidate’s career objectives.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

1. Oversee the administration and general management of the research projects, including support with grant and ethics application and liaise with relevant stakeholders in preparing research agreements.
2. Conduct research fieldwork, including recruiting and managing participants, data collection, data analysis.
3. Assist in preparing reports and meeting materials for stakeholders.
4. Work on other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

1. have a Degree in nursing, health-related, social-science disciplines; preferably with some experiences in research;
2. be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
3. have excellent project management, organisation, coordination, and problem-solving skills;

Description

• Partner with local teams in SEA and India to identify the key local business issues, create research brief and develop research plan that delivers compelling insights and provides thought leadership.
• Lead, develop and manage primary consumer research execution for data collection and reporting, and conduct advanced analysis when needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in market research or human behavior, sociology or statistics related field.

At least 7-8 years of demonstrated success in customer insights / marketing research in a consumer technology / consumer products company or market research firm.

Preferred Qualifications

• Intellectually curious with proven track record in quantitative and qualitative survey analysis.
• Comprehensive experience in market research project and agency management.
• Highly analytical, capable to cut data for different needs and run advanced analysis (regressions, driver analysis, factor analysis and cluster analysis etc.) when needed.
• Extremely strong communication, visualization and articulation skills to deliver meaningful insights to shape business decisions.
