Summary:

• This position is responsible for cleaning, storing, reassembling, testing and maintaining of Feed Conversion processing machinery.  Operating equipment during processing and making required adjustments; and performing preventative maintenance. Other duties may be assigned.
• Attending to and caring for birds in Real Time Feed Conversion houses.  Inspecting birds to ascertain quality and progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Weighing, placing and removing birds from RTFCR.  Inspecting and preparing the FCR units each morning for accurate data collection, feed usage and overall operation.  Noting any adjustments made to the machines. Consulting FCR engineer regarding problems with machines or birds.  Troubleshooting and completing necessary repairs if possible.   (30%)
• Observing birds for signs of illness and treating according to instructions; picking up and disposing of mortality. Euthanizing selected or weak/ill birds according to company policy. (20%)
• Monitoring and adjusting ventilation and light. Cleaning and disinfecting waterers and pens and performing routine housekeeping duties.  Observing biosecurity procedures and performing steps necessary to maintain biosecurity. (20%)
• Repairing pens, or equipment. Vaccinating and isolating birds, if necessary, for disease control. (10%)
• Recording information according to instructions such as line, MG, bird weight, medications, feed and water intake, and mortality. (10%)

Summary: This position is responsible for developing; testing and implement new technologies for genetic traits related to livability welfare and feed conversion. The individual is expected to apply mechanical or biomechanical technologies in the form of projects available from the R D group and lead investigations independently by using all resources available from Cobb and the scientific community. Individual needs to be skilled at implementation of machine based technologies and computer interfaces associated with measuring animals performance and behavior. The person will need the ability to develop interfaces with scanners scales computers imaging equipment and software related to new trait development and measurement. Essential duties and responsibilities include understanding the scope and details of project goals focus on projects for timely completion design plan and cost assigned projects. This position will work with sponsored geneticist and equipment engineering companies in development of projects. Undertake development and implementation of special projects per R D assignments. A Primary project will be to investigate lifetime FCR stations including licensing engineering implementation testing costs etc. Work with vendors to purchase equipment for the projects. Identify and work with software companies or in-house specialists in data capture and implementation. Observes bird behavior and modify electronic equipment to maximize healthy feed behavior. Install and adjust transponders to insure accuracy of data collection. Examine feeding scales transponders functions entry and exit gate equipment to insure proper operation. Minimize culls on the new feeder system. Additional or secondary projects include developing EKG testing program including prototypes and data validation. Investigate EKG data and relationship to ascites pulmonary hypertension flip over and sudden death syndrome. Adapt CT scanning equipment and related software to bird welfare skeletal analyses. Develop system for measuring bird location and activity related to welfare growth mating maternity and egg production using transponders and or RFID technology. Observes condition of farm structures and equipment and arranges for need maintenance and repairs. Orders supplies as needed. Prepares summaries for bird feed behavior and equipment functions. Perform steps necessary to maintain bio security. Follows normal routine safety procedures and policies.

REQUIRMENTS:

• Education: Master of Science degree M.S. in Engineering with experience in agricultural applications is preferred.
• Experience: 4 plus years of engineering school and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• This position is responsible for making sure the services requested by the customers are met. Maintains accurate inventories on supplies needed to service day-old chickens to fulfill customers’ expectations. Will keep up with by product vaccine inventory. Keeps by-product lab clean and organized to comply with sanitation monitoring protocol. Will assist with day one processing and mixing vaccines when needed. Stay until processing department is finished. Manager approval to leave early if processing department isn’t finished.

Minimum Requirements:

• Experience:  6 months related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. 
• Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Data entry skills and Excel experience preferred. Must be able to read, write and have simple math skills.

• Collects and handles eggs by observing/grades/cleans and records egg quality; distributes or disposes according to Cobb standard (30%)

• Washes and sanitizes 26 setter buggies using a pressure washer.  Places approximately 2,520 egg flats weighing 506 grams into a washer to be washed and sanitized (35%).
• Washes and sanitizes approximately 42 farm buggies using pressure washer (20%).
• Places approximately 1,500 chick boxes weighing an average of 2 pounds into washer to be washed and sanitized (20%).
• Dumping cull eggs, pulling empty farm and setter buggies to the Egg Room and washing and sanitizing both sides of the pull room and the dirty side box room with pressure washer (20%).

performs 12 and 18 week vaccination; vaccinating approximately 8,400 birds, per day (30%).

• Loads approximately 24 modules onto truck using a forklift, loads approximately 7,500 birds, per day, into modules to move from a pullet to hen farm (15%).   
• Must be able to read and write to follow weekly schedule to distribute insecticides/pesticides at GP contract farms (15%).
• Cleans and disinfects modules, vehicles and equipment  (15%).

Summary:

This position supports Quality Assurance (QA) and Animal Welfare (AW) programs that ensure products are produced in a safe and humane manner. The primary focus is on ensuring quality product for our internal and external customers, disease prevention, and proper animal care and handling throughout the supply chain. 

Essential duties:

• Facilitating training programs to ensure Cobb team members and contract growers understand company best practices and industry standards related to QA and AW. Training is conducted on a regular schedule and may include new hire onboarding.
• Assisting with the development of updated/new training courses and materials.
• Conducting various QA and AW audits that ensure compliance with company best practices and industry standards. Audits are conducted on a regular schedule. The specialist will document outcomes and collaborate with local and corporate leadership to create action plans for improvement.
• Assisting with the development of new and improved audit protocols, forms, and resources.
• Conducting investigations related to breaches in biosecurity or animal handling protocols. The specialist will present summary findings and recommend appropriate courses of action.
• Analyzing trends and serving as the local subject matter expert for assigned region for implementation of company standards for QA and AW. 
• Assisting with special projects inside and outside the department as assigned.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience can be substituted for degree.
• Experience: 3+ years’ experience in QA, AW or related field required. Experience facilitating and/or creating training and/or audit protocols preferred.
• Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word). Must be able to learn new applications and technologies as needed.
• Communication: Must be highly-skilled with both written and verbal communication. Must be able to create presentations that are compelling and enable decision-making. Must be able to communicate to all levels of the organizations, from front-line workers to senior leaders.
• Travel: Required to travel to all facilities within a designated area within continental US. Some overnight travel required. Some international travel may be required to Cobb Business Units.
• Supervisory Responsibility: None.
• Special Skills: Action oriented, attention to detail, decision quality, ethics and values, integrity and trust, negotiating, organizing, peer relationships, perseverance, planning, presentation skills, priority setting, problem solving, process management, technical learning, time management. PAACO poultry welfare certification will be required (training courses will be provided if applicant is not certified).
• Biosecurity Requirements: When visiting Cobb biosecure facilities showering is required before entering. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species, such as chickens, turkeys, ducks, and all other birds. The Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Policies must be followed at all times.
• Physical Requirements: Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to and fingers to handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms balance stoop talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
• Personal Protective Equipment Required: When visiting Cobb biosecure facilities it is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment provided by the company.
