An exciting opportunity has arisen within Blood Sciences, for a suitably qualified Senior Biomedical Scientist (Quality and Training Supervisor). We are looking for a Senior BMS with experience in Biochemistry in particular Quality and Training to join our team. The preference is for someone who has a very good understanding of Biochemistry but all Blood Sciences specialities will be considered.

Responsible for supervising compliance to relevant statutory regulatory standards to meet accreditation requirements. To maintain the quality monitoring system to audit compliance of the Pathology Quality Management System and facilitate the development of assigned staff group through the various levels of training pertinent to their role. They will be responsible for supporting and promoting quality improvement.

Pathology at BHRUT is a UKAS accredited to ISO15189 laboratory and an approved IBMS training laboratory across different disciplines.

The Biochemistry Department is currently managed across laboratories based at Queens Hospital Romford and King George Hospital Goodmayes. All staff are expected to be able to work on either site as required; this post will be expected to cover the training and quality requirements at both sites. The department of Biochemistry which is part of Blood Sciences plays a pivotal role in the provision of 26 million diagnostic tests annually for the Trust and primary care services.

The department at QH is equipped with Roche Cobas 8100 automated workflow series, Cobas 8000 analysers (c702/ e801) and COBAS Pure analyser in the Hot Lab.

At KGH it is also equipped with Roche Cobas analysers (c702/e801), Roche P612 pre-analytic, Sebia Capillaries Electrophoresis analysers, Phadia 250 analysers for RAST testing, Binding Site Optilite for Serum Free Light Chain assays.

The Prenatal Screening Department based at King George Hospital provides a high-quality screening service for chromosomal disorders, such as Down's syndrome, to antenatal patients at the Trust and to a number of antenatal centres in London and the Southeast.

We operate a 24/7 service on both sites. The Trust is currently exploring an alternative system to accommodate the increasing demand for routine 24/7 testing.

This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week. A flexible attitude to working hours is essential. The hours are currently within a framework of 08.00–20.00 including weekend & Bank Holiday working. These arrangements are subject to continuing review.

This role is being offered as long days and nights On calls in the hospital environment at night when there is no home birth but when there is a home birth you will go from hospital to attend homebirth and support by another community midwife as 2nd On Call Midwife. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of Neurosurgeons performing general Neurosurgery and complex spine surgery. The candidate is expected to participate in an on-call rota at senior registrar level. covering all the above specialities at a SHO level with both a registrar and consultant cover.Neuroscience department has a rich and well stablished record of research, audit and governance and the successful candidate is expected to take part and benefit from this.

The successful candidate will join a team of Neurosurgery registrars with extensive exposure to various subspecialities in Neurosurgery.

The post holder will participate in pre-operative assessment of patients, decision making in an MDT fashion, microsurgical and endoscopic skull base operations, post-operative care and clinic follow up of Neurosurgical patients. We are one of the firsts units in the UK to utilise the Airo intra-operative CT scanner for spinal navigation. We regularly perform minimally invasive decompressions and percutaneous fixations and will be expanding our MISS capabilities with fully endoscopic spinal surgery in early 2024.

There are daily CEPOD, and elective theatre lists as well as weekly subspeciality MDT meetings.

The EPR Data Warehouse team are the architects behind the storage and organization of vast amounts of data that BHRUT uses for strategic decision-making. As EPR Senior Data Warehouse Developer, you will be the senior developer responsible for developing new ETL processes and feeds from the Oracle Health Millenium EPR into the Trust Data Warehouse and documenting workflows and transformations using development best practice and standards.
